1-800-FLOWERS just presented every person in the audience of THE VIEW with Mother's Day Flowers.

Thoughts?

Well that was awful nice of them -

So... if they are so "nice" why do they advertise in my local phone book? Oh yea.. I forgot - they are not REALLY nice - lol

Out of all the BS ads out there I have to admit that 800flowers does an incredible job promoting flowers. Their comerical really says it all and if 800 really had their own stores I would imagine we would all be in big trouble.

I dunno Eric, I though 1800 did have their own stores at one time and it did not quite work out as planned. 1800 filling stores? Perhaps I'm wrong. They don't scare me, they drop ship stuff that never looks like the ads or commercials. I don't really consider them a threat. Call me crazy, everyone else does!:spintongu

I think it's one of those 1/2 good 1/2 bad situations. Hate that it's 800F, but glad flowers are getting more exposure as some of that will trickle down to real flower shops.

According to 800Flowers...

They'll create 436,000,000 impressions in the next two days... (what's a good return rate?)

They'll be on the Marfa show tomorrow, and then several others including CSI, Today and I forget the rest (deleted the email)...

Good marketing.
Don't like the View.
Don't like 1-800. (DUH!)

Wonder how much it cost them to do that?
Product+advertising fee? How would that work?

Could ANYBODY just get in touch with the View and say they want to give something to the studio? For a price, I am sure.... Wonder what the going rate is?

Can you imagine doing AWESOME corsages and bouts for the audience, and saying "this is what your LOCAL florist can do"?

Hmmmm....

Do you really think the people in the audience want a cosage or bout? I don't.

It is VERY important that flowers stay top of mind to all consumers out there and for that, I thank 1800 today.

They sell silk blooms at department stores for upwards of $40.00. So nice to wear on a jacket! FLORISTS should be selling these, not Macy's.

A big heavy wire and tape thing with a gob of #3 ribbon, is NOT what I am talking about.

A nicely done corsage, like jewelry, like a broach. People DO want them. They would LOVE it. And THAT would promote floral designers, because a hack in an assembly line warehouse can't make a corsage like I am thinking of.

Suit yourself, but personally, I thank 1-800 for....lemme think....oh, NOTHING.

800 Flowers is a regular sponsor of the View. Okay weird but I typed 800 Flowers and I'm getting the audio of the ad.....very weird....RYAN! help??

I don't thank 800 Flowers .... I don't thank FTD for putting ads out on the airways that are so deceptive that consumers fall for them and then complain about what they receive from the Real Local Florist who has filled those orders for them. I believe this is where SAF is failing...(not hijacking this thread) but national advertising is beyond the real local florist (at this point) to drive home the fact to shop local...
And no one florist has the clout to provide to the audience what is needed to get air time and the "nod of the head" from any syndicated series such as The View, Rachel Ray, Oprah, you name it.........money talks.

I think I'll email Ellen (love her show).......she seems to be more for the "little guy"
