Did anyone see this???? TOO COOL. It was an 8 x 8 wall o' flowers. I tried to see how they did it but they didn't show mechanical stuff so much. I want to do a smaller, faux version for my shop!!!

Robin, That sounds beautiful!!!!

I'll bet seom of the people who have helped out at the Rose parade would have some tips.

I think I saw/read once where you could use chicken wire on a frame (or burlap) and just poke the flowers through the holes.

Hopefully, someone smarter than me will chime in!!!!

You will have to post pictures!!!

If I am not too badly mistaken.....I'll try to remember to send an e-mail to Betty Lou Barkley AIFD. If memory serves me right, Her shop co-ordinates the decorations for the Oscars and they always do a flower wall.

Perhaps Eric or Cathy might see or can call Betty since they are in the same area.

I saw that too, BEAUTIFUL!! I was also going to post about the "flower wall"

The only real thing they showed was that the wall was in two pieces and they put them together on site. The wall was white but it seemed to me that it was covered white with some sort of cloth or something. They never did show what the "wall" was made of. It was beautiful!!!

If you were going to do this with silks I would think you could easily do it with a sheet of styrofoam? It is something to put in the "idea" folder.

I have 3 woven table runners (inexpensive bamboo or rattan looking ones) that I'm not using for anything, I might just glue silks on them and hang those bad boys up. I just need to find a cheapie source of non-cheapie-looking silks. The ones I have are too pricey and I need a lot to cover the runners. I think it'll create an "ohh, ah" effect when ladies come in the spa. I am trying to think of cool things to do once all the Christmas stuff is done.

Robin, that sounds like a great idea.

As far as the silks I can't help you there. I have a hard time myself finding good looking silks at a reasonable price. Maybe someone else will have a good source. The best I can think of is Michaels when they have a sale.

Be sure to post pics when it is done.

Could they have used the Oasis Sculpting sheets? that's what was used on the big hanging piece the "australian team" did in Chicago. The sheets were attached to a fencing base then raised & hung into place. It was a huge piece, at least 15' X 8'

How about seeing a picture of this....?

Yes, I second the picture!!

Twila I have been looking around on the Style Channel website and trying to find out which planner did the wedding.... it might take a while but hopefully I will find it.

Well I found out the planner was Shawn Rabideau but he doesn't have a pic of it on his site; he does mention it though. I'll keep looking. It's gotta be on the net somewhere

Well, According to the AIFD site. Bette Lou Barker AIFD does not have an e-mail address listed. Has anyone else here on FC worked with Bette and the Academy Awards? LIke I said, I have read about them creating a flower wall that stood where the media interviewed the arriving celebrities. Maybe some of our California AIFD contingent can offer some help?

If we knew which episode it was and could see a re airing, then a screen shot would be possible.

Trish

It's on the Style Network, Episode 809 with the (obnoxious, gross) MILLION DOLLAR wedding couple (as they mentioned 5784937543 times UGH vom).

The flower wall was actually part of the other wedding (the lowly, non MILLION DOLLAR wedding) - Lara and Andres. The bride works for Nicole Miller and her personal style was totally adorable, btw. Oh and I really liked her centerpieces.

You guys should watch it if you can! You know they repeat those things over and over. :>

Trish, you rock! I don't think I can give you another green dot just yet, but this is a substitute.... :>

edited to add:
ooh. You can thank people for posts now. KEWL.

ok.. just getting around to this thread ...Is this similar to what you are describing??
This was from the 2005 symposium, and the presenter was Paul Miller.
According to his directions, he covered a wall with regular Styrofoam and water picked the flowers into it. the wall was 8'x8' and he had wheels on it.

Whew! Twiggy, that looks way more advanced than the one I saw. But very cool! Love those colors. I hope Trish can get the screen shot of the one on the show too. I am loving this idea of flowers as wall art. I bought some silks to do one for after the holidays.

Connie is this Sharon McGukin ? If it is Connie & I worked the back room with her at SC Floral Conv .this year. She was great to work with!
