I am pleased to announce that I'm an official Flowers for Kids trainer for florists that are interested in becoming trained and certified to teach FFK. Delaware Valley Wholesaler is working with me in training florist that are interested in FFK as well. With these troubled economic times, FFK is the most cost effective program out there to promote your business. Unlike advertising that targets the masses and is expensive, you can use FFK to target your area and community at little to no cost.

If you are interested in becoming certified, please pm or contact me directly. As a fellow florist, I know your time is valuable and sometimes difficult to leave your shop for training, so training for FFK can be also be done over the phone if that is best for you. I have personally taught over 600 kids the FFK program. I can share with you my tips and tricks to teaching FFK as well. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thanks very much Stacey. Stacey is our 11th Flowers For Kids US trainer.

The best Flowers For Kids trainer is a motivated florist who already has successfully given a couple dozen classes to children. The Trainer/Florist already has much in common with another potential FFK florist and can share real and appropriate FFK floral classroom experiences.

How does this help Flowers For Kids and you?
- Florists will listen and learn better from their experienced peers.
- Classes can be arranged over the phone. Saves traveling time for both teacher and student.
- FFK trainer earns $30 for each florist trained. Student receives FFK florist kit (Script, info, banner, signs, handouts, name tags), reads through all the material. Telephone class takes 45 minutes.
- FFK trainer is available for moral support and help before and after classes.

Any florist who has given a score of classes and would like to be a trainer please contact Flowers For Kids.

Congratulations Stacy, FFK is an AMAZING program. I have been doing classes just this past school year, but I LOVE it. I have already done more classes than I can count without looking it up.

Not much time left in the school year to do classes with the floral holidays coming up (which I don't do classes during)

I am brainstorming ideas of where to do classes through the summer months. There is a local school here for the mentally handicapped that runs during the summer months, I am going to start there.

If anyone has any other ideas on summer classes, I would love some ideas.

Thanks Aileen & Carrieann!!! Carrieann, during the summer I have tapped summer-day camps in the area, libraries and last summer I did ffk for a karate summer camp. Sunday schools at church are a good one too. Hope this helps.

Here's a couple of ideas:
Home Ec classes??
Girl Scout Troops
After School care kids
Senior Citizen place that might have a "young & old" day
Community center
Start a Meetup group specifically geared toward FFK events
Local Military Family support center/Housing Community center

Thanks purplegirl and Aileen for your ideas. They are great.

I have done my kids aftercare program and I am planning on doing girlscouts, as my daughter is one. I am thinking of having the girlscouts come to the shop for the class.

I hadn't thought of the library. Have you done a class at a library? Do they mind the mess? The mess is the only thing I worry about doing a class at the library.

Thanks again.

The Girl Scouts of St. Louis made a Flowers For Kids merit badge. You may email me for the artwork.

If you give a class at your shop you could charge $5 per child. The "helicopter" parents in the back of the room are an added bonus as they are learning about flowers and your floral offerings.

Messes at the library are easy to take care of by enticing extra flowers to students if they help clean up.

I like the idea of a merit badge for the girlscouts. I will speak with the leader tomorrow at our meeting.

I don't think I would charge for the classes, even if they are at my shop. The reason I would want to do them at my shop is it is easier for me, not to have to lug around the buckets of flowers, and it will get the moms to come into my shop.

I might charge if I decide to have them do an arrangement in a container, but I would charge only for the container and materials, and at my cost, with no markup.

Thanks for the suggestions.

When I do FFK at the library, they have a special section in the childrens area with tile floors, sink and large counter top space. I always keep a garbage can close by to help prevent making those large messes I tend to make!!! Giving a bouquet or two to the staff helps in overlooking any minor mess I may make. I always clean up as best I can after the class.
