Looking for any florists who have done the Flowers For Kids program. We *JUST* took the training (it was awesome), and I sent out a press-release to 5 newspapers and the school superintendant in our small town (5k). Within 24 hours we have been swarmed with requests for the program, and are intending to dive right in. I am looking for suggestions from those who have done this first hand as to: age group/grade you prefer, mixed age groups, maximum effect group size, etc. We are also wondering if anyone has ever had the group come to your shop, or if everyone is going to the school as the program states. We are very excited, and welcome any food for thought!!!
Thank you from Northeast Wisconsin

I am very involved with FFK, in fact I have a class tomorrow for a group of 5th graders. Call me at 732.349.7447 so we can discuss. Once you teach your first class you are going to love it and want to do more. I have 8 classes booked through April and always getting calls about it. Please give me a call so I can give you more detail.

I have not heard of this program. Who does the training? How do florists get involved?

You can visit www.flowersforkids.org for more information on how the program works. Then contact you local wholesaler and let them know you are interested in becoming a FFK instructor.

Thanks Stacy!

I will try to give you a call this morning!

OK! Dear Rokay,

ask Rokay he knows all about it:tunes:

Please tell me all about your experience with FFK. I can call you this morning. Or we can go PM/e-mail. I am trying to compile as much info about the program overall, before we hit the ground running. In such a small town, we only have 1 chance at things like this. Any info, good or bad, will be much appreciated!!!!!!

I am a wholesaler that has supported flowers for kids since 2006. I have had Ramiro teach 4 classes of retailers over 2 different training dates. 1 in 2006 and 1 last weekend.

I am happy to share what I know

Sorry,

You can tell I don't post very often, I must have replied to you and not midwestowner. I know you are very active in the program, I think that is great.

yes, flowermom...

were you at the training in Green Bay?

...We were at the recent training in Green Bay.
We are very excited about the program.
Our response to my press release (sent only to local newspapers and school superintendants) has been overwhelming.
I already have 5 large groups (2 classrooms at a time) set for April.
Because we are in a small town, I am trying to be as prepared as possible. Only 1 chance to make a 1st impression, you know!
And, we had to move fast. We had some friendly competition at the class also, so we wanted to hit the ground running.
I hope the folks at Bill Doran can keep up with us (Just kidding):thumbsup

That's funny you say that, because they are having a hard time keeping up with me. Good Job!
