Alliums are good! And for some reason, euphorbia always reminds me of flying saucers.

Here's an idea of a design I did last year... If you're on a $60 budget, I'd recommend using a cabbage and sticking the craspedia in that instead of the oasis ball covered in salal leaves....

I hope this helps!

I should be an expert...

I should be an expert because I have waited on a few customers who could only be from Outer Space but no ideas just yet.

just sPUTnik some thing together.

I WOULD BE TEMPTED TO THINK A BIT X FILES..NOT TO MUCH PLANET'Y,THE MOMENT YOU THINK OUTER SPACE PLANETS RUSH INTO YOUR HEAD...ROCKETS THAT KINDA STUFF...CLEAR ALL THAT AWAY,GET A FRESH CANVAS....AT THE MOMENT ALL I CAN THINK OF FOR YOU ON MY BLANK CANVAS IS SOMETHING EDIBLE, "MARTIANMALLOWS" INCORPORATED SOMEWHERE BUT THEN I CAN BE A BIT OBTUSE AND CERTAINLY CONFECTIONARY OBSESSED...

Thanks - I just ordered some flowers and have a bizarre idea off the last recommendation of cabbage/ billy balls. I ordered some silver paint, pincushion protea, blue lights and now i need to let my imagination take over. I think it will
look like a martian for sure.

The plant in the movie/musical "Little Shop of Horrors" was supposed to be from outer space. It looked like a Protea/Venus Fly Trap combo. Perhaps you can modify some weird looking Protea.

I think the allium is your best bet.

Ooooooo, sounds fun and creative! I like the Billy Balls and Allium idea. Pincushion Protea definitely sounds space like! What about Pitcher Plants? I always thought they looked kinda spacey in an Art Deco sort of way. Or maybe I saw something like it in an episode of the original "Star Trek". (Yes, I was a nerdy Trekkie)

White branches in pilsner vases fill with water a little blue food coloring and some led lights inside glue phal blossoms back to back with led lights suspend from branch to branch using decorative silver wire.......
