I booked the largest wedding we've ever done, and it's probably going to be the most stressful. The Brides great, It's the designs for the centerpieces.
It's all inside the vase, nothing sticking up. Some vases short, some tall.
Orchids--green cymbs and green dendros
Callas-Green and white
mini callas white and blush
Chocolate cosmos
chocolate dahlias
green kermits
green spiders
cream gerbs
bells
flax
xlong beargrass
lily grass
curly willow and lots of it
I have artistic license which scares the he!! out of me, because I think I have a feel for what they want, but you never know til after the party's over.
My challenge is the flax, I have not used it much, and wondered if there are any secrets about getting it to stay down in the vase, or stay where I put it.
The head table is easy, just 15 feet of glass troughs with flower heads floating-- I can handle this.

The individual tables are different sizes, some with clusters of 3 different vases and some (smaller ones) with a single vase. I can see it in my head, just nervous about it coming out "in the glass".

Any secrets anyone has would be helpful, They have to look high style, cuz this wedding wasn't cheap. The designs aren't under water necessarily, just contained within the vases, some 6" tall others 12" others 10" tall, cubes, cylinders, tapered cylinders, and elipse ovals with a few pillars with cymbs and callas for effect.

There are nearly 100 vases for the reception, and I have about 1-2 hours to set them all. Not to mention the 100+ callas without vases at the outdoor wedding. I'm planning to do them at the shop and transport them in the boxes the vases came in, then unload and set. I also plan to do all except the troughs in advance.

Should I keep them in the cooler--or not-- I'm worried about condensation on the glass-- that happens to most of our vased arrangements when we take them out. but maybe it will evaporate without leaving spots???
What about fingerprints on the glass-- should we wear gloves? it's never mattered before? These are the things I lay awake wondering about.:dunno::dunno::dunno:

We start assembly in the morning. Wish us luck, and Thanks in advance for your advice.
Again, I'd welcome any secrets. :grovel::grovel::grovel::grovel:
Best wishes mrflowermarket

To answer one of your questions, Flax just stays where you put it. Arrangements inside a vase are popular here for a long time now, lots of corporates go out in cylinders with minimal flowers in them such as a bit of flax and orchids, Birds, calla, Heliconia etc. etc. Use it linear style, upright, or as a band in the bottom of the vase, cut a couple cm off the bottom (the hardest bit), roll around your hand, slide down the vase and it stays. (I use a stick to push it down the 1 meter long cylinders)
Oh and just take glass cleaner and some paper towel, we keep it in the toolkit and delivery van. No need to chill your cymbids so you can clean your vases well in advance.
Will look for some pics.
Also we sometimes need to cut the tips of the flax on an angle if we use them out of season, very versatile, but then this is NZ. IT"S EVERYWHERE!

Hi
It's not clear to me what your trying to do. You have all glass in multiples but not very tall. Are you keeping the entire design within the vase? The submerged look? With the size of vase you stated I think the weight of the flower will do.

When I have events that are all glass and they are the submerged look, we wrap the opening with suran wrap. We transport in lots of plastic milk crates and bubble wrap. When we set glass it is my policy that my crew wear rubber gloves to help with the accidental slippage.

Go ahead a store in cooler, but take out early in the morning. I would rather my customer see condensation rather than murky water. We bring a bucket full of white cotton towels to event for this purpose.

You'll be fine. Sounds like your using amazing flowers. Good luck. Post pics!

Thanks for the info,

Thanks for the feedback, Today is feeling better than yesterday, I have all the flowers present and accounted for, and tommorrow starts the mad rush to assemble everything.
Talked to the restaurant where the reception will be held, and I can get in any time after noon, so I have 3 more hours than originally planned, so we'll not be so rushed.
The flowers still look great, and all should go off without a hitch.

Thanks again, for the input, if anyone has more let me know, I'll probably check this again tomorrow AM, after that it's all down hill.

Best wishes mrflowermarket

For a wedding I recently had 100+ cylinder vases filled w/water and flowers and a floating candle. One thing was that we only filled about 2/3 full and then covered not each vase but the entire top of the box of filled vases with Press n' Seal wrap. Worked like a charm, did not spill one drop. :)
