iLocalFlorist.com just recieved this letter...these guys are a major black-eye in our industry.

I just found your article on Flowers with Gifted Elegance, but your story didn’t go far enough. This is a total scam operation. I ordered flowers last week, thinking I was calling a local florist in Marion , IN. They even told me they were right near the high school! When I asked if they had gerbera daisies in stock, they took a minute on hold and then told me “yes”! Needless to say, the flowers never came, but the charge on my credit card did. When I try to call them they immediately transfer me to “customer service” where no one ever answers or returns a call. When I asked them not to transfer me, they became almost hostile, calling me “fresh” and a host of other derogatory names. And I didn’t even raise my voice—I was just trying to figure out where they were! I’ve been hung up on as well by them. I found several listings of them on rip-off.com, full of many other stories just like mine. They have been taking people’s money and that’s about it. What can I do? Please do a follow-up on this incredible scam.

Sad part is...

About the only thing that CAN be done (other than florists getting clues) is by Attorney Generals nailing them for all the infractions they do.

Four years ago after getting an order from them (the first and last ever ** see below - taken by one of my employees over the phone) I researched them.

They have two listings in my city. In this state to operate a business you must be registered with the Secretary of State among other things.

Well St. Joseph Florist was registered but the DBA permit was on hold because they had not filed their forms nor paid fees for a couple of years. That was just part of it. I put together 3 pages of reference material and sent it to my Secretary of State after speaking on the phone with someone there.

Followed up 3 times and they just stone walled me. Too many other things of far more importance they said.

Sigh...

** the order generated a complaint because it was called to us at supposedly 100 % on a credit card. The recipienet was upset with us because they did not think it looked like an X $ arrangement. Sender had called recipient. Sender calls me and reads me the riot act. We were given $30 which included delivery. They paid $48. After I explained everything sender was understanding but THOUGHT they were dealing with a florist in St. Joseph MO - not New Jersey.

The states don't seem to be stopping him. Too bad

A dOG. ;)
