Did you know if every American family ate one meal per week produced locally, it would save 1.1 million barrels of oil per week?

Quote from the book "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle". Fascinating read.

I really wonder how we buy our flowers and sundries effect our planet.

I certainly do my part on that - I love a vegetable garden - Right now - I don't have one - but I do shop at our local farmer's market.

Not sure about other states - but we have a Statewide Market system in place for our local farmers to sell their produce direct to the consumer.

[EDIT] - btw - It's not just fruits and veggies wither, In the markets, we also have farmers who sell their locally butchered meats as well as a few plant and cut flower growers.
