foot surgery

I have been having trouble with a foot problem,and now need to have surgery. The Dr.says I wil have crutches for two weeks and one of those wooden shoes for 6 weeks.Have any of you had foot surgery and is this a realistic time frame.....I have 2-3 weddings schedule thru to the end of november and I really can't be down for the count....some input please?
