Video For those of us that burn wood

I know... ain't it cool~

I've already done 12 cords for next winter... about 23 more to go I think.... heating with wood next year....way cheaper than gas/elec...

old folks in this house, have I told you I Love My Pellet Stove???
and you can get a tax break on alternative energy heating??????? (of course, our new boiler and new pellet stove we bought two years ago so we don't qualify) have I told you................. LOL

I'm looking for a pellet stove for the store.

We also heat with alternative energy at home: water. Of course we installed our new heat pump two years before tax breaks. :(

Boos that some serious wood cutting if you are going thru 30 cord you sure you got insulation in that there house of yours?
Yea, some.... but my house has a 2 story great room with cathedral ceiling, the reading room (formerly tv room) has a story and a half cathedral ceiling and the bed rooms are all on the second floor...

This August we're adding 4 inches of Dow Foam and a new metal roof, as well as wall insulation and siding and all new windows... time to get efficient.

I have also checked into a wind mill, but it appears the ROI is very bad... time will tell...

Well that should improve things some I gentlemen bought a piece of land up pass my camp and is building some kind of post and beam straw bale home. He is going to be useing solar as his primary electric and is talking adding a wind mill also I am interested to check this out as they build it.

Yea... I'd really like to do a wind mill, but everyone I have looked into was 8-10 grand with a minimum of 10-12 ROI, and in Michigan Consumers does not have to buy your extra energy...

r u sure about the consumers thing, they do buy solar power.

also a good reference on wind power: Paul Gipe; Wind Power—Renewable Energy for Home, Farm, and Business.

Could of used one of those myself up to a couple months ago. Just changed to pellet stoves. LOVE them! Burn cleaner, no more cutting wood (not that I did that) no more mess of the wood piles, and my allergies are soooo much better.

showed it to hubby, the guy we used to get our wood from runs his commercial sales with one of those. We've seen it work in person at the Fryeburg Fair here in Maine. They certainly can eat up a lot of wood in a hurry. mucho dinero........

Yea, I figured they were pricey... unless you are selling the wood, and in huge amounts it would not be worth the expense.

As to the Consumers and wind/solar... yes, they do, but they do not "have to" yet... I'm sure eventually the Feds will demand they buy from anywhere...

I'd really like to see that work with some oak or maple instead of soft birch wood! I'd be willing to bet that it wouldn't produce split wood as effortlessly then
I'm pretty sure it would Phil, especially green wood.... I split my oak with a hydrolic splitter with a 3.5 horse Brigs and Straton...effortlessly....

We cut another 4500 pounds today in 3 hours...not split yet....but oh well....
