Hello! I know this is a long shot, but I have a bride who has decided she would like to add fresh lily pads to her order for her wedding next week. Strange request I know....but, she has a vision and wants to go with it. Any ideas on where I would find these little guys?

I checked with a couple of local suppliers, but have had no luck. Mayesh thought it would be hard to find as well. I think I am going to check with a garden center tomorrow. If no one has a clue as where to find them in fresh, any ideas on a good artificial?

Have a good night and hope everyone still has their sanity so far this week!:hammer:

guess i'm stupid, but aren't lily pads and galax the same thing????????

You're not stupid. Lily pads are a member of the lotus family and they are a blooming plant that produce sometimes vibrant and unique shaped flowers. They are also known as water lilies. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure they strictly grow on water.

Galax on the other hand grows mainly in Appalachia and is an evergreen plant. The plant itself does produce small white flowers but, nothing to write home about. I only really care for galax when it starts to turn from green to a rustic, beautiful redish brown.

For Lily Pads, check with a local pond supply store...the kind that specializes in back yard ponds.

Whats the brides plan for the lily pads? Can they be used on the plant? Maybe you could rent them in pots...

The bride is going to float them in a low round dish with a floating candle. She has now asked I try to find a good (cheap) flower to float with them...lol. Always gotta be cheap! Thanks for the advice!

Another green that looks very similar to lily pads and also similar to galax only larger is ligularia. I have used this to create the look you are going for. Good luck with your search.
