Fresh pumpkin arrangements

I was just reading online that pumpkins produce ethylene gas..so how do, those of you that make fresh arrangements in fresh pumpkins, display them in your cooler? Or is there little concern there?

I HATE making arrangements in real pumpkins! I used them for a wedding once, and we did all the tricks...we tried fruit fresh, we used a spray sealer...they were still an icky mess! We ended up making the arrangements in a clear liner and just dropping them in on sight. For the cooler, I would spend the money on 1 fake pumpkin for display and just use the real ones for delivery. Or, leave the arrangement on your counter rather than in the cooler so it doesn't kill your other flowers.

Thanks for that idea -- the permanent pumpkin...never thought of that!
