Off Topic Friendly Competition...

Hi FlowerChat friends! So I've got a little favor to ask... we've started a friendly competition with a former Teleflora employee who now does social media for Select Blinds.

He's challenged me to a duel of sorts - first company to 1,000 Facebook fans wins bragging rights.

So, what I'm asking is: if you're a Facebook user and haven't already 'fanned' our Page, please check us out and Fan us. If you ARE already a Fan, please us the 'Suggest Page to a Friend' tool on the Page to recruit your friends to our Page. :ghug:

We can't let some home decor company beat out the passion of flowers!! Also, as a side note, if you have a Facebook Page for your shop and you'd like Teleflora to make your Page a 'favorite' on our Page, let me know, I'll gladly do that.

Being kind of tech savvy, I'll just let other real florists know Nicole probably has the hidden agenda here she's not telling you the full truth about this 'competition'.

If she gets 1000 fans, she can sign up and get the http://www.facebook.com/teleflora URL.

Correct me if I am wrong, because according to my wife, I'm wrong a lot.

If I am right, then shame on you Nicole for trying to deceive real florists into bettering your career. Why couldn't you of just told the truth and said, please become our fan so we can receive the /teleflora URL?

Most TF florists don't use TF because they think wow, TF is awesome! It's because they almost have to. Most florists in their right mind would never give money to a corporation like TF who takes a % and competes against their own hard working real florist members if they fully had the choice.

Again Nicole, correct me if I am wrong, but it's because you want the business /teleflora URL isn't it?

Happily I can say that's not the case. Since the date has already passed there will be no vanity URLs for Page's that didn't qualify until June (or is it July?) 28th just like anyone else who couldn't register the first time around.

Plus, I don't have to stress about the Teleflora URL because our legal department filled out the forms to claim our trademarked name so no one else can 'squat' on it until Facebook opens it to us, so nope, I'm just doing this for fun and to build a reason for people to join.

Oh ok. TY for clearing that up...when I read your post I wasn't sure. I do not like to see real florists duped who are still learning the technology.

Plus Jon Stephenson has only 88 fans, you have almost 300. He's going to lose. And he is a fan of TF, but you're not a fan of select blinds. He's tweeting for help, so he might pass you!

Getting to 1000 will still help you at your job, which is fine, I just don't like WS hidden agendas and is why I asked. I'll let my wife know she's still right.

I don't know that I'd rule Jon out yet since he's the one who challenged ME. I don't know that I get why it would have been 'duping' people to get them to be fans, however, even if I were trying to reach 1,000 for any reason other than fun. But oh well, my understanding is not always what's important.

I hope people will play along, however! And, while we're talking about the Page, if anyone has topic areas they think would be fun/interesting/exciting to address there, I'm open to feedback. Thanks!!
