Aron Benon, a three-decade veteran of the floral industry and former CEO of Florist.com, recently established HonestFlorist.com to bring nationwide delivery and an unprecedented level of honesty and transparency to the online flower business. From now until Mother’s Day, Honest Florist is offering the lowest prices online for florist-delivered flower arrangements, Benon said.
Here are a few tips from Benon on how consumers can get their money’s worth when buying flowers for Mom:
1) Cold flowers aren’t cool: When you walk into a flower shop, it’s best to choose flowers that aren’t sitting in a cooler. Even if the flowers are days old, the cooler is preserving them. Once you get them home and they thaw out they will begin to show their true age. Most shops have no other alternative than to try to push their older flowers. But the bottom line is those flowers won’t last up to 7 days, as any fresh flower should.
2) Extra charges that are off the hook: When ordering from an online florist, the minute you pick up the phone to order, the charges can increase. Many online florists charge more – as much as $7.00 more – for orders received over the phone, and often, florists don’t tell you about this extra charge until after your order is placed. If you’ll be buying flowers online this year, handle the transaction entirely online to save money.
Wow, he's managed to put down both local florists and online florists...Isn't he an online florist who fills through local florists? Wish I was part of his florist network...
