I very much liked the current FTD TV "be a hero" ads, and the order in which "potential" customers are "directed" to FTD shops first, 1800SendFTD second, and FTD.Com third!
It's actually a very classy TV ad, and it was nice to finally "catch it" just after West Wing, and just before Law and Order!!

I have to say I've seen more of the FTD ads this time. Only once or twice, but during prominent shows on popular channels. I still don't like the ads, but that's a matter of personal opinion. Nice to see them getting the ads in places they'll be seen, though!

Mike, You get home on Valentine's Week early enough from the shop to catch prime-time television shows? Wow, what's your secret?

Yes I enjoyed the FTD ad also, I think I seen the same one last night. (Didn't expect the ad, caught my attention)

Of course Ital's has his Be a Hero 365 days a year on Tech-TV.

Sad to report also seen the Vermont Teddy bear too, on CNN about 5:20am the other morning.

I've seen them too, was actually asked for codified Valentine's Day specials this year.

As for getting home on time, our solution was simple. We have a design team that has been able to stay on top of the order wave and a call staff that has been able to keep up with the phones.

We have more orders so far this year than we did this day last year and we're further ahead - oh the joys of having the right amount of trained designers.

The Add

One thing that you should know is that the last thing read or said in an add is the first thing remember and sometimes the only thing! so ftd.con being the last thing in that add is going to be remember the most.

Not trying to slam, just make you aware of that for your own advertising.

Audra,
You are very fortunate to have such personnel resources available to you. With most florists experiencing "qualified" labor shortages during the major holidays, what is your secret to securing good and competent people to staff your shop?

Can't claim credit for this one - we've been in the same bind as everyone else the last four years. Apparently, someone up above decided that we could use a break and we got a big one.

In September, a local florist who had her own shop called us and asked if we were looking for a designer. We asked who, she said "Me". She has an illness that the rigors of running a shop were complicating. She'd decided to close her shop. As she'd worked with everyone here before and is a friend, we were more than happy to hire her. About two weeks later, a lady (who had worked for Luc) came in and asked if we were looking for a designer. Luc suggested we hire her and pay her whatever she wanted. We did, we don't regret that for a moment.

Since these two talented ladies have joined our staff, we haven't had to work a single hour of overtime. The people who work out front haven't had to help out at the back, so everything has been seamless.
