Drop-ship only.

BTW, FTD has a new site design and looks a heck of a lot more like PF - larger photos, less text on the page

What adult will purchase this?

How many adults are going to purchase this? It's kid themed, and I don't have that many kids coming in here to purchase flower arrangements at that price! Where do they get these designers?

Noticed these the other day and yes their home page stinks since they changed it just lately.

ummmm....Im no ftd fan, but I think they are cute to send to kids...of course kids wont order them but adults will order for a child, for get well, hosp , or whatever occasion for a child, they are cute...animated movies are huge right now and this movie will be just as successful as cars....again I am not a supporter of ftd, but I would think they will sell well for kids, JMO

The popularity of the arrangements will. . . .

probably depend on the popularity of the movie itself.

While reviews really mean nothing, these reviews are mixed.

Here's the sad irony:

The Bee Movie features a Real Florist. It was an opportunity for locals to shine - but FTD's brand tie-in bypasses the kind of warm, caring florists featured in the film. :(

Would Rene' Zellwigger's character have resonated as a minimum-wage worker packing boxes in a Miami warehouse? Time to call DreamWorks for a rewrite.

...
Yes irony is the perfect word, but don't you know that FTD *is* the "warm, caring florist", and all of its members are just worker bees for the hive? Isn't that 800's standard line to customers?

(sorry about that bad "bee" metaphor, but i could not help myself)

I guess McDonalds didn't want to do the Happy Meal partnership with the Bee Movie?

Yes, McDonalds is here anyway. Granddaughter got a Bee in her Happy Meal Tuesday.

You are very welcome and nice blog post !!
So glad FTD is gone from my shop!

If you haven't read the blog post about the Bee Movie and FTD - please take just a few minutes...

FTD's Bee Movie Bouquets Forget the Real Florists

By CHR on November 8, 2007 8:18 PM

FTD announced the introduction of three bouquets inspired by DreamWorks Animation's Bee Movie today. The combination would seem to be a natural considering the film features a local New York City florist, Vanessa (voice by Renee Zellweger), who befriends the movie's star, Barry B. Benson (voice by Jerry Seinfeld).

Except FTD left out one seemingly important element: not a single FTD local florist will be making and delivering those Bee Movie bouquets.

That's right - the 'arrangements' of flowers are bunched like grocery store bouquets, dropped in boxes and sent "Next day delivery by FedEx®, DHL® or UPS®" for the recipients to assemble themselves.

No professional local florist hands will ever touch those flowers.

As one member of Flower Chat so aptly put it, "irony is the perfect word, but don't you know that FTD *is* the "warm, caring florist", and all of its members are just worker bees for the hive?"

In search of higher margins, FTD has chosen to bypass the many warm, caring real florists like Vanessa who made their brand a household name.

So if you want one of those cute little Bee toys, buy a Happy Meal - and then visit your local florist for some flowers.

Am hoping some other bloggers will write about this topic and link to the post.....

BTW, we saw the film yesterday. It's cute but hardly in the league of Shreck or Ratatouille.

For being a smart girl, the florist character has really bad taste in men - but she must have a very successful shop since her apartment overlooks Central Park. :>

There are a bunch of floral industry parallels about the little Bee hero wishing to escape from the same day-after-day jobs in the hive.

obviously, all the auto emissions in NYC have affected her pre-frontal cortex, disturbing her finely honed man-picking abilities...

blame it on Bush! :mobile:

LOL.

Forgot to mention that the florist Vanessa has a dream of working on the Rose Parade and that the floats have a role on the story.

I put up a quick post on my shop blog - http://floristblogs.com/blogs/avant...1/12/the-bee-movie-s-vanessa-the-florist.aspx .

The last two lines:
- FTD has created Bee Movie bouquets, but sadly they aren't available through any local florists - not even a cute shop like Vanessa's - and are just being drop-shipped via FedEx and UPS.

Maybe FTD should have this year's Rose Parade Float drop-shipped from Miami instead of relying on the many real florists who have so caringly designed their award-winning entries over the years.
