Is it gone for a reason? There is no icon on the website.

V

Really? Weird, I was there this morning.

Audra

The icon is gone last night too...hmmmmm....

It would seem to me that shutting down the FTD board was not only a stupid move but a sign of Old Bobby N. trying desprately to cover his A**. They screwed up with the waterford ornament. They screwed up with the advertising. They screwed up by NOT listening to their members and the REALLY screwed up with all the last minute hype to the members about what a hot seller the ornament was and the free shipping yadda yadda, only to advertise the stupid thing at 15% off on FTD.com while at the same time ignoring the posts on the message board.
However, none of this surprises me. Some of the die hard FTD supporters on the other board have made comments about how good the Green group with be, and how much money they have and how lucky they are to have Bobby stay at the helm. I think FTD members are going to see some major big changes in the next few months. Green group is notorious for "cleaning house" when the profits are not there and they want nothing to do with things like public message boards. The fact that Bobby is a scum bag won't be the reason they get rid of him, they like those types. After all look at the old CEO of Rite Aide, he ended up in prison and don't think for a moment that the powers that be in the Green group were not aware of what he was doing. What will get Bobby booted is the lack of profits and this season was a big kick off to the downward slide.....

Did any body know about this shut down? Did they just do it without a by your leave? Did the membership $'s go towards its maintenance? Just curious because I really don't know much about it.

V

Jim makes a good point there about them not listening. Being a vehicle for getting messages to them, for 3 weeks there there were consternations about sales not being there for that C-1. One would think they would step up advertising, but...they apparently ignored feedback from the front lines.

Until they learn to copy success, they are going to repeatedly get kicked around the block by TF in holiday codifieds (about 30-1 in my playbook people chose TF). Product specific advertising beats institutional advertising over and over, why are they so stubborn about that? TF doesn't mind copying their success (dotcon). I am young, hip, and happening (2 of 3 ain't bad) and I am getting sick of the Wild One.

So rather than hear the truth, (you KNOW they are facing it, with plenty of stock in da warehouses and plenty of florists being WAAAY closer next holiday), they close the medium. Seems pretty chickensh*t to me.

I dunno, I haven't been around long, have they had other bad calls like this one? (Barbie looked pretty dodgy) Sure screws your florists when you sell them dawgs. You try to hype them what a hot seller then you openly compete at a deep discount with your resellers. Bad form.

I for one think this is dirty playing on their part. I for one, will e-mail my canadian FSR and Frank Stornelli and telling them of my displeasure.I think it was a positive Bulleting board to direct coment to all dept and give them information good or bad. THat is how an organization will grow with comments. Are they scare of the HONEST approach we give them? I knew there was a change a few years back when NO ONE from HQ was allowed to put any answers up without approval. DO you think there could be a mass group of florist who will leave FTD after this holiday. Time will tell.
Anyway, I think this board has surpass any other bulletin board I ever seen. THank Ryan.

ZAP? like in your control?

Regardless of the decision of turning off the site or the WaterDaug? those decisions were from the Company.

My Motor City Rocker Ted Nuggent said it best...."Dog Dog, Dog eat Dog".

Animals fighting over the same FOOD PILE.
It's us strays who survive.

:sofa:

On the up side of all of this...this board does afford us open and honest discussion no matter the side....:)

Freedom of speech, I guess, equals freedom to pull the plug if one doesn't care for the opinions expressed...too bad really because I did find value in the Bulletin Board...oft times it was the only way to get any response from Headquarters...it was a great tool in that regard.

The silence was deafening regarding the many opinions about the Waterford thing.

Hopefully the people from that board, who are not on this one, will now join...it's a great place to learn, share and just be who we are.

The missing board

I agree that this is the worst decision that FTD could have made, however.I find it hard to believe that closing the board is a result of the the Waterford issue since their follow-up to the problem is sounding really good. Didn't they learn the last time about having their issues out here for all to see? Guess any dirty laundry or uncomfortable questions will now be brought out here............wow, that was really good planning! Who's bright idea was it I wonder? Think they will be the next to vacate????
Do you really think Norton makes these hands on decisions? I don't, but I am sure we will get some reason for it and no matter what it shrieks of stink!
Funny but regardling FB, I have done searches on the web and found some of the idiots conversations out there for all to see in the web world but never saw anything that had been posted to this board or to the FTD chat board. Makes you wonder if they realize how public their stuff will now be. Makes the .sucks site pale in comaparison to the bad publicity available on the FB. hahahaha or as someone else says nani nani booboo.

Yes do tell Sher, what follow up? Are they gonna buy them all back?

What always amazed TOTO the most about their HOLIDAY BRANDED PRODUCTS was the fact that, THEY NEVER PUSHED THEM at their own points of sale.

Had that argument with Rock Davis who headed DOT.CON back in 1995 under Meg Whitman's reign.

We had all PURCHASED their C1 through C7's, greened and flowered them up, and prepared to fill all the orders which, we thought we would get through FTD.

Then, the only orders which were kicking out from them, wound up to be for the CANDY CANE LANE BOUQUET at $29.99.

I called Rock to PITCH A ***** in asking just, WHAT IN THE HELL WAS GOING ON OUT THERE in his department?

He answer to me was; WELL, THAT'S WHAT THE CUSTOMERS SEEM TO LIKE and THEY LIKE THAT PRICE POINT.

So, I said to Rock; If that's the case then, why don't you just make the CANDY CANE LANE BOUQUET the C1?

Anyway, that never happened and we were forced to loose most of those PREPARED HOLIDAY BRANDED other than, what we PUSHED OUT OF OUR STORES ourselves.

After which, the unsold HOLIDAY BRANDED went into our basements with the hope of pushing them out next year.

Then, THEY ALL WONDERED WHY WEE DIDN'T BUY THEIR HOLIDAY BRANDED for CHRISTMAS of 1996?

Because, YOU DON'T EVEN FEATURE and FOCUS UPON selling your OWN FREEKEN HOLIDAY BRANDED STUFF on your website and via 800-SEND. And TO MEE, that's a NO FREEKEN BRAINER!

Anyway, finding that I could no longer work with a partner who was ALWAYS COSTING MEE MONEY and SALES, I had to cut their cord starting in January of 2002.

And, I'm happy to say that, it was the best decision wee ever made regarding our BOTTOM LINE and our ability to devote 100% of our attention to OUR CUSTOMER at 100% OF THEIR DOLLARS.

FORE! TOTO and, WE'RE NOT IN OZ anymore!

I for one will be looking REAL HARD at what I am getting for next year. Aside from the Holly Bowl, I sold out of everything that I had of teleflora. Now FTD is another story, 11 c1, ordered 12, 4 left of c2 and 2 of c3 and how much I tried to push them I could not find a buyer or sub them with incoming orders. Speaking of incoming, My ftd sales For out going was 55 total $3318.00 wire in for FTD is 75 for $3978. My outgoing average was higher than my incoming orders.
For teleflora I sent 130 orders vs 105 incoming. My outgoing are up 35 orders vs last year outgoing and my incoming are down y 114.
Overall I did more outgoing this year than last year.
I was ready and could handle more.

Hey TOTO

Was that the FTD's C1-C7 of those silver things that one year? Silver gravy boat, jewley box, soldier, eskimo, etc....? We will never stop talking about that disaster. We finally donated a bunch of that junk before it tarnished.

YUP!

Linda named the NUTCRACKER the FTD CASKET BOUQUET!

Took us YEARS of bringing them up and putting them back after Christmas and before we FINALLY GOT RID OF THEM.

Still have THE FREEKEN SEALS which one florist told me to LABEL IT "SEALED WITH A KISS" and try to move them during VD WEEK.

Tried that, but I knew is was BS ing myself.

Best that I give them A BURIAL AT SEA the next time I get near the Hudson River or the Atlantic ocean.

John

We have been keeping all the everyday containers and vases that FTD offers on their site for some time now. After the Christmas Waterturd debacle, the Bear in a box there will be no more containers coming into this building from them.

My mom still has an Eskimo.

She liked the Eskimo from that "silver" group. Every time I go over to her condo she has one in her curio cabinet. What a flashback! May the silver group eternally :eves:

Looks...
