It's offical...there is a new kid on the block...

http://www.ftdflorists.com/search.html

All FTD Florists can participate in this program whether you have a FTD Website or own Website, but Teleflora Websites can not participate...plus more fees...
.

FTD site

WOW Mary Lou... Thanks for sharing this development. :) What a novel concept....direct contact with the florist! :idear: Don't you wonder how aggressively they will market this, considering they would be competing with themselves? :hammer:

how aggressively?

FloristDEX and I were reviewing some PPC ads on Overture the other night and ran into this listing paying $.89 for florists Dallas and $1.00 for florists Houston...and many more.
.

FTD site

Interesting ...I am not seeing them on there tonight. I did see FTD.com, but not the directory site ...Are they using other domains? :dunno: I imagine they will promote this just long enough to appease their florists until their grower direct biz gets cranking... but to us that know better, we know that FTD (and their stockholders) are not ready to sacrifice their percentage of the orders to promote direct contact with their own florists, it's just principle. I mean what will their slogan be???? "Save Money, call a florist direct, cut out the middleman" ?!?!?!??! Keep us all posted.

Interesting thing I see

Is that this is another "OPT OUT" program whereby anyone with an FTD Florist Online COOKIE CUTTER site, is included in the program, and the florists that do not want to be included, MUST be the ones to say NO...

As we know many do not already read their mail. And considering the thousands of FOL sites, this is another money grab away from the members... I did not see where it said you could be included with a non-FTD site (maybe it's there) but this too would force florists to utalize FOL (more $$).

Regarding the advertising of such. It is not in FTD's best interest to promote this directory heavily, as it would be competition for their various OG sites, including Da Dot and several others they have speant millions aquiring.

Time will tell, but I do nt think this dog will hunt!

O.K. I see it

where florists with non-FOL sites are eligble...

I still do not think it's a great thing.... especially when you compare the dollars necessary, compared to other directories, especially FREE ones like this one.

flowerchild...It's there...We were in the ad management side the other night...so I had to re-check this morning.

Florists Dallas is #15
Florists Houston is #14

Perhaps they have a low daily credit, theretofore would be dropped when they reach that credit limit...

Don't think this dog will join the hunt.

Well, it's too soon to know...but for $360 per year for the "Platinum Package" the dog should be overworked, and dog tired... even for the $180 "Silver Package"...

I agree with Boss, if you have a FTD website, you may need to opt out if you don't want to spend the money...Think of how many FTD florists won't know to opt out and will just see their monthly fees increase...I think FTD just added a couple million to their bottom line...

next an Also-served-by fee, then a per zip code fee,

They already instituted this, for the directory. A TAX of $5.00/mo per ASB!

I am a little confused here when did this directory go on Line. ?

Yesterday...and the notice, as usual will most likely be burried in the next statement envelope...

Steve,
I am not sure...I've known about it for a couple of weeks and I know several board members knew also...but FTD didn't make the formal announcement until last night...
.

I called and asked exactly what advertising they had planned for the site. The person I spoke with said "OH we just had a meeting about this! We will be on Google and Yahoo, that is all I know at this time" ??????

Key thing is.... which page on Google???

I seriously DOUB'T that FTD will promote this "directory" to compete with FTD.com... It's simply not in their best interest to do so.... but I could be wrong...

FTD, compete with its Members? Naaaaaa. Never do that. Silly you to even think that!

It looks like for once, What's good for Teleflora, is good for FTD. For once teleflora is leading the pack on something.

Compete with their members. really. What a thought. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
WHO WOULDA EVER THOUGHT.

Interesting

Ran a few searches this morning on Google... looking for this directory...

I could not find it, in the first 5 pages, when searching for FLORIST/city/state.

By adding FTD, then looking for [FTD florist midland michigan] it came up as the second sponsored link below CoasttoCoast at the top of the page.

[FTD florist saginaw michigan] returned a page with it in the sponsored links in the right hand column. (Urban and Coast were the two in the main box)

[ftd florist sunrise florida] it was not found, as well as in many other cities where I know there are FTD florists....

Check your city...I wonder how many folks include the letters FTD in searches... seems that is the only way to get it to come up...
