Dear FTD Florist,
The New FTD is dedicated to serving the member florist community in the best possible manner. In order to do that, we have been asking for your feedback on how we can improve FTD and help you increase your business. We want to know how your business performed for the Mother's Day holiday. This will help us to prepare for future holidays.

We ask kindly that you respond by Tuesday, May 18! Please go through the questions carefully. We will take your answers along with those of the other FTD member florists and use that information to help us support you even better.

The member florist survey program is a major step forward as we continue to better listen and build our relationship with each and every one of you. We greatly value your advice and input. The New FTD is dedicated to being the best partner we can be with our member florist network and you will see many more programs designed to help us deliver against that goal.

We value your feedback, so please complete the survey by Tuesday, May 18. Let's help each other create the most successful floral network ever!

Thank you very much.
Rob Apatoff, President
To bad it's a multiple choice survey and little room to elaborate. 'Course they don't like me anymore and don't want to listen anyway.

They wanted to know:

  • Did your MD sales increase or decrease
  • Did your walk-in increase or decrease
  • Did your Wire ins increase or decrease
  • Did your website sales increase or decrease
  • Which wire service gave you the most incoming (TF,800, FTD)
  • What was your average wire in order and from which service (TF, 800, FTD)
  • Which wire service had the best brand recognition (TF,800,FTD)
  • Did branded containers sell better this year than last

There were a few others, but there was no mention about out-going, no option to tell them you didn't do branded containers.

The survey basically assumed that you were a full-fledged, dyed in the wool, codified container carrying store that was interested only in incoming orders. Not a really in-depth survey. My cat could have come up with better questions.

It's NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS~!

;)

I agreed Boss, I looked at the survey and thought, find out for yourself not from your membership who you profit from. Not to mention there was no option in the entire form to indicate that you only had one wire service. Waste of time, it will in no way increase or enhance the service I get from FTD so I did not do it

From those sample questions, it appears that FTD is more interested in how they can better position themselves for more order-gathering opportunities against their opponents. The answers to these questions would in no way benefit member florists unless those members rely heavily on those gathered orders. They seem to want to know from their members who did the best job of gathering. They can then put those statistics together to better pinpoint where their marketing efforts should go. It is unfortunate that in recent years, that marketing is used to harm member florists however unintentionally that may be.

Linda,
You are absolutely correct. This was a self serving survey, not to help the remaining FTD florists but to help FTD understand how to better market the 'brand'. I let them know of my disgust earlier today, but a lot of good that will do.
