1) Floral and gift?

2) Where are FTD's stores? They grew 31.8% last year. Did you, FTD members?

didn't they aquire interflora.uk last year?

FTD is getting in everywhere - they drop ship and take money away fom us. I would usually complain about something like this to my local floral assoc. they have a dept. that attacks negative press. So they would normally go after the Mag. that printed this story. I say would, and usually because this year (last month) a VP of FTD was voted onto the board of my local floral assoc. Gee - do you folks think I should trust that assoc. anymore??

BTW - I adore Dave Barry :)

Here's a quite iteresting part of that story that we could all take a lesson from:

"Regardless of merchandise selection or customer base, the fastest-growing retailers know who they are and what their shoppers want," said RickGallagher, STORES Publisher. "Retailers of all sizes have something to learn from the ingenuity and perseverance of this year's Hot 100 Retailers."

As in previous years, many of the Hot 100 Retailers grew through acquisitions. FTD - FTD Group, Inc. (#10) grew 31.8% last year.
...by purchasing Interflora for $122 million.

Let's do the math... the Green Group bought FTD for $420m, spent another $122 million on Interflora and is selling the company for $434 million.

Yep, definitely a showing of ingenuity.

it does NOT add up...how it IS, that FTD made the top 10 list, or even the top 25...something ELSE is missing....

I think they show up because they bought a company to immediately show an increase in sales.

these two sentences say it all:

(it) highlights retail companies that reported the greatest year-over-year revenue percentage growth in 2007

and

As in previous years, many of the Hot 100 Retailers grew through acquisitions. FTD - FTD Group, Inc. (#10) grew 31.8% last year.

Articles like this are so misleading. Just look at the Ed boesen situation. He LOOKED like he was on the top.
