I this months FTD statement, the announcement was made that they will now only be printing the FTD Newletter 4 times a year, rather than the once a month as has always been the case...

Hmmm.... cutting costs?

Hmmm.... cutting costs?

Sure looks that way...anything to show a few pennies more in their pocket!
...'nother bad move, and another way to keep the "florist segment" in the dark - especially with regards to what fellow members are doing.

Also, you COULD argue content requirements: I mean, how many more times can Mike S. say that we should be focusing our efforts on selling $29.99 price points! :)

Good point Herb...maybe they realized the ink they were wasting printing his dribble could be better used to to print termination notices for the FTD working staffs (stiffs?)...

Maybe they'll combine 3 months into one each time printing something with more than 6 pages:rolleyes:

Yea, I suppose they could take the paper and dye it PINK...for all those pink slips!

(now-now, Herb - that's not nice...)

Do you ever get the feeling that MS's and BN's editorials have/had the "same look and feel".

I wonder who wrote BN's column?

The only thing that I look, now looked, forward to every month was to read the front page of that newsletter. In BN's days I used to get angry, now it is only for entertainment value.

Well, you can take comfort in the fact they can only have four increases a year now. OR, at least it would be harder to sneak through more than one increase per issue since that would make them be more obvious...:>
Of course, they could be BIGGER increases!!!
Hey, that's right, 80% of members don't read the thing anyway.
I'm surprised they don't charge $x per population/# of members since the less members per city the bigger advantage they're GIVING their victims, uh, members (I think that deserves another :> )

Rock on.............

Nah... they'll more likely utalize those white letter sized envelopes, with those notices that are retroactive to the first of the month that they mail on the 10th or so, that get lost in the shuffle of similar looking donation request envelopes that are mixed in with the pile of bills most florists pay 30 days late...

They'll see it's from FTD and set it aside again, perhaps opening it 45-60 days later...but that won't matter because they won't understand what they are reading anyway, and will only remember the *We value your membership* (cash) tag line at the bottom and think to themselves, **Gee, FTD really does care about me**.....

Like Bad Bobby said once....it's easier than shooting Quail in So. Georgia!

for ALMOST 18 months now......

the FTD Newsletter editorial staff has been "begging" it's members for useful, and interesting info that would be of interest to OTHER florists, and have largely been banging their heads against the walls.
With the overall decline in "interest" in wire services in general, it seems prudent to me that they cut costs in NOT producing what florists don't/won't read!!
Now, it would be FAR more prudent that the wire services GIVE UP printing those huge directories as often as they do!!

Maybe thats the problem, the *head banging* I mean....

I did send in a little ditty on the RealFlorist Boxed Guarantee from VD, also RealFlorist.com and some stuff on FloristDetective with info on some of the skimmer/scammers....

Guess there was not room to print it because of Mike's propoganda....

Side bar: I miss Bad Bobby:duel:
