OK, I have a hard copy in hand... and I must say I am, and if you are a member, you too should be a little perturbed.

FTD Membership "Bundled Services" includes, for $29.95 a month:

Membership Fee (TAX) $99.00/mo
Floral Selection Guide $14.99/mo
Mercury Network $89.95/mo
Directory Subscription $ 8.00/mo
FOL Standard Website No Per Order Fee (TAX)
No Low Sending or Reciprocity charges

Yes, this does only apply to "Small Towns", but still I call ::BS on this deal. I don't have a problem with the Price if it were just for membership, but I do have with the other things. Oh, and I assume it includes the Q/A Tax too, since it's not listed in the letter.

Yes, I've said it before, and yes I'll probably say it again, but summers coming, and I feel a boycott coming on, even if I'm alone in my own little world. Like someone else said here today about something else..." I'd simply stop filling"... I think I'll stop both, filling and sending...not much going on now til October anyway...

This membership deal is a crock...

Okay... I am confused? They are offering this deal to who? I am in a SUPER SMALL town - I have not received this offer...
 
Are you already a member? Or is there an FTD member there already?

I am currently a member - not by choice - I am "due" to expire in September.. I have been tring to get out for 9 months... One stupid excuse after another..

Ed from FTD calls me every other day asking what they can do to get me to stay.. He did not offer this to me! And no there are no other FTD shops in my town.

Crownin - I think... Yes.. pretty sure pronounced Crow nin. He is the guy that calls you after you file your paperwork to get out.. He seems nice enough - we will see just how nice...

Tell him you talked to me already, that'll probably bug him a little, then tell him you'll stay (if you want to) for the $29.95, and if he's got a problem with it, or says he does not know about it, have him call me and I'll fax it to him.

Tell Ed I said hi, and that I think it's his turn to buy lunch...

Nice Guy as my memory serves me.

Just remember if you BITE, it's a temporary until your Town gets another member.

Funny and back in 2001, we were the ONLY ONLY and paying the discounted $99.95 per month rate at that time.

Then, they went and signed up a NEWBEE and our rate went up to $149.95 per month.

Just another REWARD for 34 years of membership, 20 of them as an ONLY!

Just be sure that, the TEMPORARY DEAL warrants your shop's ability to fill their highly discounted DOT.CON LOW SRP spin your wheels for naught junk. Otherwise, WHY WOULD YOU STAY?

Completly quit! Period, Do not take any deal. Do not pay anything else, Period!

In return still fill those orders that makes you money, let them give you a credit card number and get 100% of the order right away. You will not have to wait anymore.

The ball is in your court. Take advantage of it.

Dang that beats anything I ever negotiated from them!

BTW: the membership directory lost a 1/2 inch in thickness from Jan to July.

and BTW btw.... the membership deal is not a crock if you can get it. GET IT!

Don't be gettin' all jealous because your FTD neighbor has a better deal with them than you. Remember you can only control your world. ;)

Joe, FYI... I'm on the rampage (again) simply because I am the single member in a single member town and they refuse to deal with any of the fee's, so I guess I too will have to quit, and resign if I decide to remain, seems like a lot of paper work to me...

BTW, Ed's calling me today... he was in Denver last evening...so we'll see if he can do something my RVP and his handler (Amanda) refuse to do.
 
FTD called me several weeks ago, we do not have a FTD member in town, myself and the other florist were at one time, but not now. This was an offer made to me, the $29.95 but only for three months.

Just laughed and said I don't need your service, but Ma'm are you not interested in making money? Of course I replied, but I can't make money with all of your attached fees, I'm not interested and hung up.

Good Luck. The last time Ed was in my shop was when he was with AFS. How many moons have passed since then?

You are in a large town market and that gives them some latitude to charge you more. Quit, Merc in your termination and I bet they come back with more favorable rates.

Boss, the one thing FTD is not is stupid. They feel they have you hostage because of the technology you use. I would surmise that they feel because of your volume that with out their technology, sending out your volume of orders would be cost prohibitive for you.

That's probably why they see no need to offer you any kind of deal. Call their bluff and leave.

So if it wasn't good 9 months ago and you wanted to quit then has it really improved that much to justify all of the fees ? They won't get any better with "free" deals, they'll just string you along until you do the math and figure out if there's a profit to be made in there somewhere. I say, if you were ready to quit before chances are they haven't improved by quantum leaps to make you stop thinking about it.

I don't know, call me silly, I'd rather see a profit then stay busy filling their orders so they make money off of me.
