Comparison shop between FTD.com and Interflora.co.uk (FTD's affiliate in UK) and one wonders why a consumer would not use the Internet and place the order themselves. And yes, still give FTD, through their affiliate Interflora, the business. (Or, better yet, use the Internet and find a true, local, florist's website and order from them).
I recognise that there are reasons - language (although probably not in the case of US & UK) is surely the main one. If there is an issue with an unhappy experience you, as the sender, could contact your credit card issuer and probably get further than if you contacted FTD (in the US).
Compare the US & UK sites and you see many differences, not least were direct comparison is possible, that prices can be 75%+ more on the US site vs. what you pay (for the same thing) on the UK site and this includes "service fee" which, on FTD for an Int'l order (to the UK) is $27.99. The UK service fee is STG5.99 (or approx US$9.90 @ $1.65 = STG1.00 which is currently very fair). Yes, note that fee to the consumer.
The UK site is laid out so that there are no final page price shocks. The price shown on the image on the UK site relate, unlike the US site where the image is usually for the "Best" version whereas, underneath, it states " Prices from...". In short, far fewer grey areas for consumer confusion or mis-understanding. This is what a WS based website for local US florists should be like as well as for the WS itself.
In short, yet more reasons why WS are increasingly irrelevant.
