Well I'll be danged... again yesterday, FTD delivered another target for the shooting range. Yep, a TOP 1000 plaque for us for 2008 (13 months later?).
Anyway... it'll be interesting to see if I get one for 2009! I see this as a somewhat odd award, and wonder how the heck we managed to stay in the Top 1000 even with declining order volume, refusal of many orders, and giving out florists numbers to customers.
Some numbers for ya'll...
2008 Numbers
-15.1% Overall Business
Flat Number of incoming FTD orders (-4 orders)
-13.6% Outgoing orders
-52.8% reduced payroll hours (vs 2007)
2009 Numbers
-13.1% Overall Business
-32.4% Incoming FTD orders
-27.4% Outgoing FTD orders
-33% reduced payroll hours (vs 2008)
Now, the number of filler fools did not change here in town until late 2009, with the addition of 2 new members, so the decline can not be traced to that, except for the fact that there were two filler fools, one 18 miles and the other 24 miles away that were ferrying deliveries into Midland from other cities. This is a known fact as one is a friend, and the other was seen many times on the street.
The decline in OUTgoing volume can be directly traced to us giving out numbers of other florists in part, and I would imaging some of the other volume went to OG's and direct contact with other florists via the web.
What's interesting to me, is that on the INcoming side, things look to be falling apart all on their own from 2007 to 2008, at least where FTD and my delivery area are concerned. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but it would appear that the wheels are coming off the train in part, and one can only hope the end of the track is in sight.
For what it's worth....
