FTD is running 1 Dz. roses with a vase, florist delivered for $49.99 during V Day. That's less than $35 to the local florist for product & delivery after subtracting commission and receiving fees.

The description says
They arrive wrapped with greens and a glass vase, ready for the recipient to arrange in their own special way.
Quite a dilemma IMO.

1) Are FTD shops really going to "go PF" and proudly deliver these?

2) Why isn't the same "arrange in their own special way" text on FTDs drop ship items?

same dilemma here

Interflora UK promoting at £39.99 but vase optional apparently. Just as well really, given our min rose price for anything half decent will be £1.60 plus tax. Suffice to say it's not going to be popular here either.

What really cheeses me off though is that they play - hell created - the silly price game and now not even they are winning - apparently conversion of visitors to site this Christmas was lower than expected/desired. Solution. Offer even more drop ship items.

Excuse me???? Am I misunderstanding something here. If customers are not buying what's being offered already - including plenty of drop ship items - maybe there's something intrinsictly wrong with the range that puts people off ... not the pricing! After all Tesco didn't pull out of drop ship over here because Interflora scared them off, they pulled out because they couldn't make any money out of it.

Harrumph Harrumph

If you interested I'll upload my editorials re all this to the blog.

harrumph away!

I for one would like very much to see them.

I promise not to "harumph" even once as I read them.

Cheers,

Bill

Three of my latest ones now up on blogs ... interested in reaction .. good or bad.

Good find Cathy!

I looked at the small print, and compared the delivery policies on two of the rose options.

The red rose bouquet, selling for $49.95, wrapped and sent with a vase, says in the delivery policy:

"You will be offered florist delivery if a florist carries this item in the delivery zip code. Otherwise, you will be offered FedEx® or UPS®"

The Delivery Policy for the Premium Dozen Roses, for $69.99, arranged in a glass vase, says:

“Same day delivery by an FTD® Florist is available in most areas of the U.S. and Canada on orders placed as late as 2p.m. in the recipient's time zone Monday through Friday."

I think that the $49.95 wrapped roses will be taking advantage of the "drop shipped" delivery option.

p.s. - Daisey the Dane is getting HUGE with puppies - due date of Feb 2!

are they trying to revitalize the "value program"?

I had a call from FTD yesterday asking me to rejoin at a special rate of $99 mo. Rep told me that the FTD member book is 1/2 the size of the TF book and that they need florists so they are reaching out to former members. When I asked him about this rose promo, he said it was to drive orders to the florists, Yea Right! Thanks but no thanks.

Just when i'm out, they try to pull me back in...

Last year it was 12RR in a vase, this year it's just 12RR hand tied to give the florist more money they say ?. With the £ / Euro exchange rate we need it.

Yea, called the "Best Sellers" program...

I contacted my rep about this, and basically said that FTD's new owner just lost credibility points with me. If he were indeed so "Premier Brand = FTD" and so "Florist First, Direct Ship 2nd" then WHY is this still being offered?

Anyway, I sent the links in an email, and it did provoke a return phone call. While the Kool-Aide had clearly been drunk, she at least tried to offer an explanation. I won't bother sharing it with you, as it was all smoke & mirrors stuff.

If it looks like a duck, then....
...shoot it and serve it up with a nice orange glaze sauce.

Yea, plus that 14.99 service charge they end up paying 64.98 total. I wonder how many customers realize that this year I'm starting my roses out at 69.95 plus tax. These of course are prearranged, fresher, hydrated roses, with filler and a vase that aren't going to sit in a box in the corner of some girls office or work place for 6 hours until she gets home to (deal with them then).
FTD stinks like yesterdays diapers!

Ha! Too funny!

FTD stinks like yesterdays diapers!

What's even funnier is that, some of the kids are still wearing them!

Wonder what it must be like, wearing 14 year old DIRTY DIAPERS and without a HAVING A FRESH CHANGE?

OOPS! Wait a minute! Yes, there is a change. Their diapers are getting smaller and they're charging the diaperees even more, oh my.
lol

ahhh, if only consumers had brains and could read, we'd not have to worry...

wrong, it is 2/3 the size. FTD books weighs 5lb and TF 7.5 lbs.

FTD measures 2 1/2 inches thick while tf is 3 1/4. ;)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

believe it or not I could fill this order and make almost $12 after delivery.

will i no. why? because I don't get many FTD orders for vday.

If this is a problem, turn the Mercs to forward.
