Fun with Fiddlehead Ferns

I worked with an incredibly creative bride this weekend who asked me if it was possible to paint fiddlehead ferns gold and have hanging crystals from her bouquet. I never say no.

What a great idea! The fiddleheads took the paint nicely and I LOVED the results of the bouquet. Just thought I'd throw this idea out there for a fresh new idea. I've never seen this anywhere else- has anyone seen this before?

We actually had three weddings this weekend and every bride used Fiddleheads in a totally different manner. The first shots are from a "Vintage Hollywood Glamour" theme, second was a backyard, second wedding that requested "NOT bridal looking, teal, chocolate brown and gerberas". The third was a stylish, but simplistic bride that wanted a modern garden, woodsy feel.

GORGEOUS BOUQUETS!!!!!!!!! Awesome job! Hard to choose my fave, they all look incredible!

I've never seen hanging crystals from a bouquet before, but I have seen painted fiddleheads, although not in gold. I like it! Adds a touch of regal-ness (I know that's not a word, but just go with it You may have just started a trend with the crystals!

I've tried drying them and they shrivel. Maybe they'll keep painted though? I have one left over and I'll do a test.

I have painted the fiddlehead ferns gold before. And you're right, they do look awesome gold. I used them for a Bridal Show in a Christmas bouquet attached to a fur hand muff. I will try to post the picture. I did this back in '03, before I went digital!

oooh! Those turned out pretty!! We used to spray paint our fiddleheads all sorts of colors. Better than ting-ting! lol.
