Does anyone have any ideas about an afghan on the casket? We have a customer who wants this instead of a saddle and would like ribbons (Father, Brother etc.). We would appreciate any ideas on this to make it a show stopper. Not a lot of if any flowers. They are getting a pillow for inside the casket with flowers complimentary to the afghan. Thanks

Just a thought maybe gather the afgan up on one end and put a cluster of flowers on the end of the afgan. The afgan can then spread over the bottom of the casket. You can use the cluster of flowers to anchor the ribbons into. Hope this makes sense.

You could gather the afghan in the middle do a cluster of flowers in the middle where it is bunches...then add your ribbons ..This would work for either a half casket or a full casket.

I did an afghan ( crocheted ) for a casket design recently. I took the afghan and gathered it up......about the one third/two thirds point.....wired on some long stakes, inserted the stakes into the saddle.....MAKING SURE THAT THERE WAS A THIN PLASTIC FILM COVERING THE SADDLE AND FOAM TO PROTECT THE AFGHAN FROM MOISTURE. I used complemetery colors and it turned out gorgeous.

if they are looking for a COUNTRY LOOK they might like just a wheat spray on the quilt...it could have flowers at the juncture point and it would be someplace to anchor the ribbons.....I did one once (without a quilt) and the customers were very pleased with it..
there is a biblical quote about wheat and funerals...perhaps someone might have more information on this.
