I need to design an arrangement for a urn that is 6" square and 11-12" high. The customer would like it to come around the sides of the urn and not cover the front at all. Any suggestions out there for mechanicals? I suggested a wreath at first, but again they didn't want the front covered at all. Thanks!

What about hingeing the wreat to drop down in front of the table and designing it that way....

Hmmm

Couldn't you cut a Oval Oasis Wreath in half and not cover the front? Pan Glue the edges before you soak to stop foam leakage, then cover with zip lock bag, tape and cover the edges with sheet moss? It's a suggestion, but it is also the end of the day, so that may make no sense!

oooh, that is a small urn, most of ours have been at least 12" square or longest side of rectangle... I think the smallest backed oasis wreath is 18" which would work if you cut off that part that would reach the front. I use the words "cradle the urn" when selling them. Other than that you'd have to go to a smaller wreath, perhaps non backed and polyfoil the bottom and carefully green down to cover the foil.

If this is a cremation urn........then it will most likely be displayed on a table......I would use one of the plastic backed oasis wreaths and 'hinge' the wreath to drape down the from of the table.

Another option is to elevate the urn on a stand and have flowers positioned low down on the front of the wreath,
------------------------------------------------

Instructions on 'hinging' a wreath: Using the plastic backed oasis wreaths, before soaking the wreath, score a line in the top of the foam to mark your cutting lines....ideally, you should have 2/3 of the wreath flat on the table to allow for stability and a third cascading down in front.

Take a hand saw and cut down through the foam to the plastic and then continue down cutting down to the flat part of the plastic backing.....DO NOT CUT ALL THE WAY THROUGH.....Then bend down the wreath, You can then udd some hyacinth stakes, additional bracing, wire, etc to add stability if you feel it needed. THen you soak the wreath and make your design.
--------------------------------------

You can use the mache backed wreaths....but since mache is a paper based material......you run the risk of the mache backing tearing at the hinge point. That is why I use either the 15 inch or the 21 inch oasis plastic backed wreath forms.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions, I will be working on this today. I think cutting the wreath in half will work, we shall see!!!! Pretty funny when I asked my husband to put a saw in my truck this morning, he looked at me like I had two heads!!! Will let you know what I end up doing, might have to just do a swag if this doesn't work. Keep ya posted and again thank you soooooooooooo much!
