I have a bride that wants to use gerberas for the bouquets and germinis for the boutonnieres. She wants all brown centers. I have tried to explain that some germinis do not have brown centers. She feels that the regular gerbera will be too big for bouts. Her dress color is persimmon and we are going to use a burgundy red, yellow and orange for the bridesmaids and cream germinis plus the other colors for the bride. Each girl will carry one single color and she wants the bouts to match. Is there any way to color just the center of the gerbera?

you can get them all with brown centers...I have a rosa flora ltd catalog....

for burgundy get dark lady standard and burgundy mini
for yellow get heatwave standard and Terra Gina mini
for orange get Candela Standard and Harley mini
for cream get Dakota standard and Husky mini

Hope this helps, these are canadian gerbs and are available in 10 packs....

BRIGHT SIDE>>> Picky is sometimes very good... they know what they want and you really can not misinterprete what they invision!

Others may disagree... I would use a chenille stem and Design Master spray paint - DO NOT actually spray the gerbs... spray the paint into the cap of the paint can (or other small contianer) use the chenille stem and dip it into the paint - gently "blot" the gerb center until it is the desired brown tint (you can make every gerb have the same brown center using the method) - AND always - HAVE FUN WITH IT....

I am mortified to admit this,

but, several years ago I needed light and medium pink gerbs and mini gerbs with dark centers for a wedding. I ordered from the wholesaler and got light pink and purple gerbs. There were no more gerbs to be found at any of the wholesalers, so I got medium pink gerbs with light centers and used a black magic marker to carefully color the centers. After we were finished they were hard to tell apart. So that is a last minute hail mary solution.

I've done this too, at the suggestion of my wholesaler because she couldn't find ones w/black centers. They looked fine and I am annoyingly fussy when it comes to flowers, esp. for weddings. The bride loved them and had no idea.

one more vote for chenilling & painting, or magic markering - they both look absolutely fine. Hardest for me was finding those vivid red gerbera - they always come in with blonde centers & we want brunettes! Magic marker worked just fine, because I was out of Design Master. :)

I prefer Rosa Flora Canadian gerber and mini gerbs also. Usually we just sell the color and light or dark center (ie. hot pink with dark ctr or white with light ctr), and my DV rep picks the most appropriate one. Occasionally with a super picky bride I pick out the variety myself, with one as back up in case there is no production on that variety that week.

I contacted Rosa Flora, and they sell only wholesale and don't sell in the Carolinas. I guess I'll just paint the centers.

Thanks everybody.

Your wholesaler can order you whatever color center you want (light or dark). If they don't get Canadian flowers, they can either get on their CA truck or order in from Holland and truck up with their SA product from Miami. Just order 7-10 days ahead of your arrival date you'd like in your shop.
