I am getting back into floral design after being out for 15 yrs. I read a post about what people were doing gluing or taping corsages. I've never heard of gluing corsages. can you give me some tips?

It' mostly a tecnique used for wristlets. Once you get good at it , it does go faster. Basicilly you attach a base to the band by the clip. We use a figure 8 of a chenille stem . Then you can glue the foliage to that, real or fake, then ribbon, then flowers and whatever accents you use. The best part is , you can prep them all a few days in advance and add the flowers the day before, which is why I like it. There are a lot of tips to make it work well so if you see a design show on corsages in your area go. Use oasis floral adhesive, not hot glue.Hope that helps.

Do a search here, and you will find complete directions, even photos, IIRC.

Make a bow and glue it to the wristlet, then glue on the flowers and greens. You'll want to blow on the glue so it's a little tacky before putting it on the corsage.

This is pretty much the gist of it

I only glue when I've got a lot to make like for prom or homecoming. I just don't trust the glue enough even though I've never had a problem with it falling apart.

look on ubloom.com.....J's webisodes........and you can find multiple episodes showing how to glue corsages and the like.

Gluing is the only way to go! We have been gluing corsages & wristletts for 5 years now. I recommend using the tube form of Oasis Floral Adhesive. We use tulle to make small "puffs" and attach to the wristlett then glue away. Never had a problem with anything coming undone. The Oasis glue is very good and once dried, very hard to pull off.

If you can't glue it - don't do it!!!:headbang:

Thanks everyone for the great advise. I can't wait to try it. I did go and watch some videos on ubloom they were great. wow I can't believe how things have changed. I feel like my floral design teacher back 20 some years ago would be having a heart attack at gluing a corsage. but times change. and I'm so glad I have found this site. you guys & gals are great.
Thanks again.

Heh heh Tina I was just like you a few years ago!!! Glueing corsages, handtieds, whaaaat, you DON'T wire roses anymore???????!!! :itchy:

Lots has changed although thankfully cascades in foam holders are coming back in, because that's what I learned on and what I do best!

Go to ubloom, watch JTV as well as Leanne's Flower School webisodes, and I highly recommend taking an in-person hands-on class as well, if you can.

You know Tina - depending on where you are in relation to Anaheim, You have one of the best floral design schools right there in California........in which our own CHR is one of the instructors.

The Southern California School of Floral Design - Instructors, Phil Rulloda AIFD, Cathy Rulloda AIFD, Song Ki Yun AIFD.

I think they have a three day short course that could help to bring you 'into the modern floral world'
