I know nobody but those folks from Georgia will be interested, but I gotta post this anyway...
I sit here tonight, as proud as can be, watching our Fresno State Bulldogs in the College World Series Finals. It's the "Battle of the Bulldogs"!
Fresno State made NCAA history last night beating #2 North Carolina and becoming the lowest seed ever in NCAA history to go onto a National Championship game! Having been born & raised a CSUF Bulldog fan I have felt the excitement of Fresno State Sports as well as the shame. The last 10 years has been nothing but scandel mixed in with a few outstanding moments. We have had our share of troubled athletes, crooked coaches, a prescription painkiller addicted coach, sexual harassing athletic directors, point shaving...you name it! NCAA is camped out on campus...heck, I think they have a Fresno mailing address now! We are nearly ashamed to be Fresno State Bulldog Fans.
Until now...
Can our baseball team be the begining of the resurrection of Fresno State Athletics? Goodness knows that if there was ever a team to do it, it's this one. What a great group of guys & so deserving. At this point, winning the Series doesn't matter. Just defying the odds and making it into the finals is such a fabulous accomplishment. A win is just icing on the cake.
For those of us lost faith & secretly cheered on our Dogs we can once again be proud to call ourselves Fresno State Bulldog Fans! Thanks guys! Thank you for giving us back what we had lost.
