Goddess Collection from Eufloria

I am fortunate to have a great salesperson who convinced me to try this new rose on a very important order last week- I'm so glad I did.. Just look!



2 dozen roses were used in this design- looks like more doesn't it? Each of these roses has additional buds on either side of the main (good sized) rose.

They are Avalanche roses specially grown to have 2 extra buds along with the main flower.

They looked so much better in person- I wish I would have taken a 2nd picture looking down on the bouquet.

This may be a stupid question, but do the secondaries develop at all? They are beautiful.

This is a great question, not a stupid one. So far we have not seen the disbuds develop or bloom. They are just not mature or have developed enough petals to open up. Most of the plant's energy is focused on the center or main bloom. We have two employees whose sole job is to walk the greenhouses, snapping off the side buds or disbuds so all the energy keeps going to the center blooms of our standard roses. We don't snap them off for our Goddess Collection series. Have you ever received roses that don't open at all? Usually they are cut way too early and have not developed enough petals on the inside to open up. I have always heard them called "bullets". Madame Delbard were infamous for this. They were always cut too early. Once growers started leaving Madames Delbard on the plant a few days longer the rose performed so much better...

It's exactly opposite for the spray roses. We pinch off the center bloom so the energy then goes to the side blooms...
