Local funeral Home is trying to set up a memorial service for the Nestle's plant that has operated in our town since 1918 and announced on monday that they are shutting down.

They asked me for flowers for the church service and wanted to know if I wanted our name mentioned in the full page ads that will be in the local papers.

Just wondering if it will look like we are truely concerned or will it look like some side show trying to take advantage of a bad situation in our town.

I think the key is your relationship with the funeral director. On a personal level I would like to talk to him and just see what point he is trying to make before getting involved, but on a business level if you have a good relationship with him (and I think you do) I would want to maintain it...especially now!

This is what I would do.

I would donate the flowers without the advertisement.
You can't have amemorial service without some flowers.
THere is some circumstances that you don't need that advertissement and I think this is one of them.
It is like what Mikey did in the fall with that family that needed 5 casket saddles for their funeral. 5 flower shop did it without putting a card that said Holdens Florist.

Inside gratification sometime is enough of a thank you.!

This whole thing just seems ODD to ME...

I could see doing a "Thank You Nestle" for all the wonderful years...but a "memorial service" for a business thats changing focus, most likely because of economic times???

ODD indeed...I would want no part of it...

I might send some flowers but I certainly wouldn't want my name in an advert.
