You have to wait until 8:30A.M. for the city crew to show up, because you are a low priority.
The gas lines, phone lines, and fiber optic cables have to marked.
One of the coldest "cold snaps" in a while.
Aging water system shows it age in winter.
It could have been worse if it happened next week.

What is "A water main break outside you store today"

That is correct and you get to stay up all night to watch the pumps and vac up the water in the basement.

Dam(n) Doug... what a mess. I know, they're breaking all over London too. It's apparently cold.

So sorry about this mess, Doug. So glad it'll be taken care of by next week.

I too came in this morning to TWO INCHES of water on the main floor....draining into the basement...

all of our past years records are soaked, all boxes, bags, 20 cases of Oasis and more...

Good thing my servers are up on blocks off the floor.

Waiting on the service Pro folks now...

Boss, what a pain to have to deal with now!

Doug - That you could make a royal PITA into a clever post just shows why you are the perfect captain of your ship (pun fully intended).

Mark - 20 cases of Oasis? Now if they'd soaked up all the water, you'd really have a story for the ages.

Hope both you guys have swift resolutions to these challenges.

Oh geez, Doug, you have my deepest sympathies. We had that happen to us one year so now everything in the basement is elevated.

Do not open a flower shop in a house that is 110 years old. I feel your pain Doug and all, flooded last year and frozen solid this year! Three plumbers, all very nice, all very smelly, all day long! We have water back in 2 taps, but no drains! BRRRR, I liked December's winter better.

Thanks for the support.

I stayed until 6:00 a.m. had two submersible pumps going most of the time. I kept the shop vac in "wet mode" and used another pump to empty it when it filled up.

Thankfully the water was coming from out on Yonge Street so the City has to fix it. If it had of been from the water service on our side of the property line we would have had to fix it.

Audra I am going to do what you did get the stuff up off the floor on a water proof barrier.

Mark and Missy and everyone else who has had a little hiccup this week we know we will prevail.

To paraphrase a famous florist, philospher who went by the name of Anonymous "that which does not kill us makes us better florists"
