Google Doorway Pages New Definition

Love it!

Read the entire linked blog post for the details, but in a nushell, here's the meat:

Doorway pages are typically large sets of poor-quality pages where each page is optimized for a specific keyword or phrase. In many cases, doorway pages are written to rank for a particular phrase and then funnel users to a single destination.

Whether deployed across many domains or established within one domain, doorway pages tend to frustrate users, and are in violation of our webmaster guidelines.
If you have a Google Webmaster Tools account, please feel free to report the phony 'directories' and 'we deliver to' OGs who use doorway pages for your city. Most are now officially classified as spam.

Oh man. Does this mean my city pages are going away soon?

I give up . Any one want to buy a flower shop?

You mean - there goes the baby with the bathwater?

If your pages have relevant content, and I believe yours do, you have nothing to worry about.

It's the cross link-loaded, machine-generated pages (where stripping out the dup content leaves very little for users) that trip the label 'doorway'.

If every page basically focuses on funneling users to a different site *cough* wesleyberry *cough*, you hit the textbook definition. :>

Got a link?
Do you have a Google account already? If not, start here. Once your account is established, register for Webmaster Tools.

You can still file spam reports the old way, but the Google team has said the reports filed via Webmaster Tools get read much more quickly.

Yea somthing like that.

You know even though we may not like the search results that include some known OG I don't think I could report them.

The amount of time that is spent on updating any website still takes a great amount of time. Besides we all know that google is making good money. Why becuase they don't need to hire anyone to montor things.

They have us. Maybe if they started giving us a break on PPC I'll be their watch dog. Ruff Ruff
