Today Google will announce the plans for their new Michigan offices, expected to employ 1000 within 5 years... read about it in the Detroit Free Press

Maybe we should ask about a small office space within Google for FloristDetective ;)

Whoa, there Mark A. . . . .

You must be speaking of the best in Michigan.

I am double checking but I think you hit my Bama pride Roll Tide SEC nerve.

Would you believe I heard a radio ad last week here in California asking businesses to consider setting up shop in the state of Michigan. It promoted the willingness of the state of Michigan to help businesses moving there with tax breaks, financial assistance, etc. So, you might be seeing more California operations move into Michigan the way many are already moving into Nevada and Arizona.

Actually, we were thinking of taking advantage of the Michigan give-a-ways by re-opening our shop in a city called Midlend, Midlyn, or something like that.

California state government makes it very hard for businesses here, in particular small businesses, with an excessive amount of regulations and high taxes. Plus, even after Worker's Compensation reform, we, a retail florist, are still paying 10% in WC premiums. Outrageous!

Just kidding about the move to Michigan. We LOVE Southern California weather too much!!!

I am a transplant now living in Michigan and all I can say is that I love it. When I first moved here, I didn't really like the weather too much but now I appreciate it. I love the change of seasons, the first snow, the cooler summers and the crisp fall leaves. Give it a try! You might like it! :)

Thanks for posting about the commercials you are hearing. I had no idea they were doing that but I am all for it (I think...depends on how effective it is I guess). :)
