A quick heads-up.....

I just posted on the Real Florist Blog: Google Might Actually Be Calling Your Business.

Hope you'll read the article and follow the links, especially to Miriam's post about the Good, the Bad and the Ugly of this new program.

What you might think is another Indian telemarketer, could really be a verification of your business' legit listing in Google Maps.

They called me a few days ago to discuss the new google places thing.

I told them it wasn't doing very good but they insisted that I should try using something like a coupon (Oh jeeze more discounts) to get more clicks on the ad link.

My tag activity sucks.

The report takes to long to tell me if the change is doing anything. I think I changed it on Monday to refelect a 5% discount code so hopefully tomorrow I should see some data. I'm not holding my breath!!

Eric - I agree with the coupon thing. We've already set our prices and delivery fees low, so there's very little wiggle room for discounting. Maybe a coupon for a targeted item or upgrade?

Honestly, I'm not sure the tags send the right message - but one of Mike Blumenthal's clients seems to have had success with them. Might be due to his business category....

Lord help me!! I hope not, I hang up on anyone calling to verify anything. It is sad that after tears of "slamming" and unauthorized ad placements, feel I have to do that!
