I've noticed a trend toward customers reaching us through their cell phone internet browsers. This prompted me to pay more attention to Google mobile and I've noticed a few things:

1) The search results for a specific keyword are the same as regular Google, however only the top three local search results will show first. So if you are listed as A, B, or C you have an advantage over your competitors.

2) Even with a broad keyword such as "florist", the top 3 results will be local. This is determined by what city you have listed as default in your Google Mobile search engine.

3) If your phone number is listed in your search result, all the cell phone user has to do is click on the link at it will connect them to you business.

4) Google adwords has a mobile phone ad group option. This ad will be displayed similar to sponsored listings. It is wise to include your phone number in this ad as the user is a click away from connecting to you.

I think staying ahead of the game in the mobile market may become a must in online marketing.

This leads to something else about marketing and cell phones. With more and more "smart phones" and Blackberries, having full keyboards, phone numbers like 800-Flowers become a liability--we can't dial those numbers because the letters don't match up the same as a traditional phone.

I have a Palm Treo 700w (http://www.palm.com/us/products/smartphones/treo700w/index.html), and I've been stymied a few times by businesses who don't have the numbers written below their clever "phone word".

I know that 1-800-Flowers has already covered this base. On their mobile adwords listing, the number: 800-717-8242 is included.

Use the dail pad. I Phone you have to .. that is why I hated it.

Just use the dial pad under menu, 2nd down, has the letters there. Have the same phone. But you are right, I tried to dial a friends that I knew the phonetic # and I had to think about it first.

Great PHONE !! Love it.
