Our saga of bad / spam reviews continues with the latest coming on the Monday before Valentine's when we got slammed with our biggest day ever.

Need more flower selections.
comparing the prices its actually expensive here. their simple bouquet of flowers was $30. i went to SAFEWAY saw the same flowers for $19.99.

Any help on how you might respond to this one would be greatly appreciated.

Quality, care and handling that florists do that some supers don't... your product guarantee...

Thankfully most people who would read that review would dismiss it as dumb, I think most people (or at least the ones I want as customers) realize the difference between florist and grocery store. I once had a customer who told her husband she wanted a wrap from Roses are Red (we are two blocks from her office). He went 4 miles up the street to the grocery store. The next day she ordered flowers for herself and put the card from him so she could get what he should have bought and has us deliver them to her office when she knew he would be in the front office of her business. He had the weirdest look on his face. It was priceless!

On the Need more flower selections ~ I would probably say something like "We are so sorry you didn't feel we had enough flowers to select from. Unfortunately, during this busiest time of the year, (the week leading up to Valentine's Day), florists are often limited to the most popular colors and varieties due to availability of what flower growers are concentrating on. We invite you to come take a peek during normal (non-holiday) times or give us a call a day or so ahead and we can get what you are looking for from anywhere in the world!

Comparing prices ~ Assuring the proper care and handling of top quality flowers can sometimes make them more expensive than other venues who do not specialize in this product. Just as these other stores carry different types of apples at different price points depending on their quality, so florists often carry a superior product that can add days to the life of your floral purchase.

Or something like that. I'm pretty confident you can keep the tone positive but put it in your own words ~ mine are probably too long.

Thank you thank you!

I'm definitely going to use some of this as it's difficult to not sound like we're whining about it, and these are very good.

Here's the final version.

We are so sorry you didn't feel we had enough flowers to select from. Unfortunately, during this busiest time of the year, (the week leading up to Valentine's Day), florists are often limited to the most popular colors and varieties due to availability of what flower growers are concentrating on and during these very busy times in the flower shop there can be times when our designers are racing to catch up to the demand and keep the cooler full of pre-made arrangements for our walk in customers.

While similar flowers can be found at the grocery stores, assuring the proper care and handling of top quality flowers can sometimes make them more expensive than other venues who do not specialize in this product. Not all flowers are created equal, and we source the best in the world. All of our fresh cut flowers, pre-made arrangements and orders packed for delivery are kept in a very large walk in cooler from the time they are processed using the latest technologies available, to preserve the longevity of the flowers which is why we can offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee for all of our products.

I had the urge to say something about the Pepsi challenge, but thought better of it.. :)

Thanks again for the GREAT verbiage!

I guess "bite me" wouldn't work in this situation. LOL People kill me. :)
I was thinking more like ... Well, I can't say it here, but it should be pointed out that he hasn't left a positive review yet, and perhaps as Google is reviewing our page, they will see all of that spam and I would consider what he's done to be spam too. He doesn't like anything!

Something to take note of: Grocery stores are not going away. They are just going to keep getting better at what they do, imo. Safeway does have some very beautiful flowers and even some varieties I can't seem to get from my wholesalers. Safeway is just up the street from me and they sell their dozens of roses for $9.99 and there is nothing wrong with them. It is true, they are not cared for like we do, we luv them :), but non the less $9.99 for a dozen roses is great for the general public. Also their wrapped bouquets are bigger and nicer, sad to say, then what we sometimes wrap for our customers. :( It is something I struggle with all the time, on how much do I charge for wrapped flowers. I read from Ken Royer's book once that single stems of flowers should not be marked up more that 2 1/2 times for a wrap. It all really depends on what kind of a customer base you want. It is hard to be all things to everyone, you can drive yourself crazy. Roses are sold by the centimeter so that can be emphazied to your customers, that you carry long stem roses and that makes for a price difference. As far as wrapped bouquets we probably can do better, if we want that business. We all need to make our own business decisions on what kind of shop we want and what kind of clientel. I know to get a review like that is very upsetting, especially when we try so very hard to please all of our customers. Something I would like to say, but, don't know if I would do it or not, because too much whinning is no good! lol! Is: "We are a locally owned family business that trys very hard to please our customers. If we can improve in any way please let us know. As far as the wrapped bouquet price seemingly different, is that our individually wrapped flowers are wrapped according to exactly what you would like to have in your wrap. The wrapped flowers you see at the grocery store are often made overseas or in an assembly line where they do hundreds at a time. We simply can not compete with that, but we will try our hardest to do our best and be here when you need us the most." I could go on and on just like you all, it is hard and we want to strike back but I wonder what good it does. I have a bad review on one of my reviews. I replied and tried to explain. I don't know if it helped or not but that review keeps showing up more than all my good reviews, even at the top of the reviews, and it was from several years ago. Some things just don't seem fair and I have no idea why that negative review gets to be at the top or close to it. So...on and on it goes!
