Just a thought...
At night I sit in my kitchen watching TV, hubby sits in living room watching the BIG TV....What could I do with my evening hours?
On the other board was a post concerning soy candles and a link to a company producing soy candles, highly recommended by a boardie.
I ordered some, they are nice, great price points in line with regular parafin candles (that burn dirty and not consistant).
Soy is wonderful...burn completely, much less soot (I burn from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m in shop and got over 12 days from 16 oz candle). Wonderful fragrance.
Soooooooo......I search the web and find "wholesaler" for them. Ordered a kit. Took less than 4 minutes to produce 16 oz candle.
To make a long story short???
I have spent less than 2 hours this evening (investment of less than $80) and have made soy candles in various sizes to sell collectively at over $300.
I even had someone come in and ask what it would take for her to rep the line. LINE??? If you are a candle lover..........wanna make a few extra bucks for little time and investment? And guess what, it's fun and takes a bit of the "edge" off a rough day.
Perfect addition to the wedding? Made just for their special day?
Just a thought.

Soy candles are great. Rhonda does the company offer Candle of the Month?

We have in our Gallery...Soy Candles made by a local lady. She started out with a couple locations, and now has 40-50 locations across the state.

It became such a big operation, that her husband sold his contracting business and now works with her full time...

Has she expanded in to Ontario Mark? I ask because the company at Judy's store is from the States and is now opening a warehouse here... business is booming.

The colours are nice and the flavours are varied and accurate... and they are environmentally friendly. Many pluses for them.

The company I originally ordered the soy candles from was Oregon Kandle Kitchen in Erie PA. Recommended by a boardie on the other board. They have a site (spelled as above). I loved the fact that she makes orders on demand and has no minimum. Shipping was quick considering.
She doesn't offer a candle of the month but you surely could special one.
But as my original post stated, I have found wholesale wax, dye, fragrance, wicks, etc and my cog is well below 27% to compete with the purchased ones. Since I'm very small town, economically challenged, this is a way to offer my customers a product, home made and even on demand if wished.
Am thinking of a "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Program". Soy burns so clean that the container can be reused and offer a % off if they bring their own container and make to order.

What is that web site?

We too sell the soy candles. We are in a very small town, which is very largely farmers. Once you can get people to try them, 9 times out of 10 they become soy candle lovers. We gave out free soy tealight samples as our open house promotion and sold many even before the customers tried them. We have a few different lines at several prices and have finally found a company that makes accessories (like holders, etc) that fit them. Two of our lines are made locally and people really love that here. They are a great seller....

Rhonda,

Be extremely careful about getting in to, "the fill a customer container." The container they are made in have to be able to with stand a certain degree of heat. Found that out years ago when I was making candles using different containers I thought were safe, and they exploded when they got too hot. I luckily was not selling them when I and friends I had made them for, found this out. Also be sure and put warning stickers on them, you know the one that tells people not to burn unattended...etc..

Yes on the containers...all have stickers and all must meet candle requirements. I meant reuse the containers that I have sold them prior :hammer:
