I am trying to get a hang of all of this analysis info and was looking at my TF user sessions and was amazed by the numbers...

TF says that between jan 1, 2009 and Mar 10, 2009 I had 22145 user sessions 22884 page views with 12 orders

for the same time google says I had 838 visits 566 unique 5083 page views...it has no idea how many orders..

My first question is: Why the huge difference in numbers and who do I believe??

I know that some of those are spiders and bots and not all are customers..

What concerns me is this: if either one of those numbers of people walked in my store and all I got was 12 sales, I would be very concerned and looking for the big reason why people weren't buying anything...

I did catch one what I think was a huge reason for this and since fixing it have been getting daily orders from my website...coincidence maybe?? who's to say for sure....

I'm not familiar with TF Analytics or what the word "sessions" means in terms of your analytics. However, even using the google data your conversion (orders / unique visitors) is a bit low at about 2.1%. Typically this means that the traffic getting to your site is not seeing what they want to see.

Perhaps you need a call to action "Order Now!" or items that are more at the price point characteristic of your area (although you appear to have a good spread here). I see text there "Send a little spring sunshine" are you able to make that a link to one of your categories?

Typically I would expect conversion to be at least 4%, however I can't say for sure what other people here are getting in this area.

TF is likely tracking using log files, which aren't typically as reliable as a JS-based tracker like GA. Log files will include spiders & bots that way over inflate and distort your numbers.

Use GA to segment the traffic, find out where your good customers are coming from, and try to get more.

12 orders per 5-600 visitors sounds about right. Not great, but not terrible. Also, look for the bounce rates for important keywords such as 'florist melrose ma.' If that's high (~50%), that's not a good sign.

No idea what 'user sessions' mean. It's probably not important.

That 12 orders doen't include all the many i get on the phone that are on my website...so this isn't bad...looks bad to me..but this is why I am internet retarded..
