I am beginning to market my new tape to the floral industry.
I have been a florist for years and have always been trying to find a way to save on labor and keep my costs down and my profits up.
It seemed so archaic to me to be manually gridding off vases and containers-takes too much time. So, I have invented the Grid Tape. Using this allows you to grid off several vases at a time. The labor I have saved using this product is amazing.
It is different than other floral inventions as it is intended to be used to tape off several vases at once. Since I created my prototype I have found other uses for it ias well that are equally indespensible.
I also use it for: taping in Oasis into containers, adds great stability for wreath forms, and I no longer use cages. Since I have used it I have not had any problems with blown oasis- ever (and I have used it for the last 5 weddings, as well as Christmas centerpeices).
It makes vased arrangements hold integrity in transport so well ,that if there was only one use for it that would be it.
The price for 6 in wide green is $3.99 per yard. This breaks down to 11 cents per inch. The COG price using standard waterproof tape is just a few cents more per inch, but the $ savings on labor more than makes up for it, not to mention the extra vases your staff can crank out in the same amount of time.
This is made of the exact same material as regular waterproof pot tape. It is simply premade into a grid pattern. It comes in green as well as clear.
I can talk all I want about it but the real proof is in the pudding.
Email me and I am happy to send a free sample to anyone who requests it.

IF you do not have a patent on this yet, be careful someone can steal your idea!
It is so easy to knock off things these days, and before your know it ....it i someone else million dollars!

Just my opinion...good Luck to you.

You are dead bang right on with that advice Eddie.

Thanks so much for the advise.
I did apply for a patent and it is currently pending.
I have been working with a patent attorney and been really trying to do this by the book. I don't mean to sound jaded but I have learned (unfortunatly from experience!)
to 'hedge your bets' so to speak.
I was waiting to come out with this idea until I had a patent pending, so now, since I have that I am really going to try to get it out there as much as I can.
I think the timing is right as well. This has the potential to increase productivity for Valentines day tremendously.
Once again thank you to you all for the positive feedback!

I sent you an e-mail. Both Jamese and I are members of AIFD as is quite a few of our fellow flowerchat members. I would love to get hold of some of this and really put it to the test. As I wrote in my e-mail to you, If all works out great, this would be a great addition to the products featured at the new products luncheon that is held each year at AIFD National Symposium which this year will be held in the city of Chicago.
