Happy birthday to my home and native land. Glad to be here.

V:canflag::blowkiss::bow_flowe:canuck::balsmile: (glad there are no fireworks in here... scares the cat). :)

Yeah, and HAPPY CANADA DAY to you too! And to all the other Canucks on here as well!

First game of the CFL season tomorrow. And with any luck, we'll have the Ottawa Rough Riders back by this time next year!

It's a crazy one in Ottawa, the Queen arrived this afternoon, and tomorrow will be a zoo in the city...street closures started today because of security ...the deliveries were difficult to say the least.

I'm actually happy we didn't get asked to do the flowers this year...last time she came on Canada Day, it was an exiting crazy nightmare that just wouldn't end until her plane flew away.
This time, I'll spend it in the garden, pulling weeds, and making salads from the young greens, and jelly from the red currants.
Our son is having a Canada Day Party tomorrow, with about 100 people coming, so the pool is cleaned, the bonfire stoked, and the dock cleaned up to recieve boaters.
We hung a new Canadian Flag on the flagpole, and have the tents pitched, badminton nets set up, the soccer field ready, and the neighbour's tennis court cleaned up.
Should be a great couple of days.
So no matter where you are in our Great White North, take time to celebrate the freedom we have to be what ever we want to be, and remember those who are not so lucky,
JP

Sounds like a wonderful time! Wishing a wonderful birthday celebration to all Canadians!

I wish you could all hear the music and laughter...smell the bbq, see the Canadian flags they've put up, and meet this incredible bunch of young men and women. They've even made two statues of friends that are living overseas, and can't make the party this year, and have taken pictures of them all hugging and kissing them....
Someone who moved away 3 years ago just arrived from Montreal, complete with burgers, pulled pork, buns and all the trimmings...imagine, he brought it all on the bus so WE wouldn't have to worry about feeding everyone.
We are truly blessed that our son has such a great bunch of friends. And truly, we love them all.
