Sandie and I wish all of you, a warm, busy, and prosperous 2005...a year in which we ALL start to see breakthroughs in the way that REAL FLORISTS operate!!
I would mandate that we have the "ball" rolling..we NEED to continually push it, and the business "envelope", to re-create a proper business atmosphere in which we ALL are able to be paid properly for what we do!
IF our competition wishes to use our services, it's time to pay up!!
IF the wire services wish to use our services, it's time to pay up!!
IF the OG's wish to use our services, it's time to pay up!!
IF Domestic Retrans wishes to use our SAME DAY services, it's time to FESS up!!
IF the "order thieves" wish to use our services, it's time to DIE!!
IF the wire services figure they can provide OUR customers, with THEIR same day service, THEN we don't need them any more!!
IF the wire services have figured out that we WON'T stand by and "raped" any more, then we have 'room" for you in OUR business plans!!
Time to make a REAL LIVING folks.....REAL FLORISTS deserve NOTHING LESS!
Happy New Year!!
Mike and Sandie

Happy New Years to all

we are closing two whole days 1st and 2nd. Haven't had a day off since the last hurricane blew through. Anyway delighted to take the time off to spend with my son , who is in the Navy and finally got home! Not in time for Christmas but he is here til Monday. He brought me a great gift--A akita puppy for shop company-he hard about all the crazys and the breakin last month and thought that mom needed reinforcments! I heard these dogs get to be 100+ pounds so she will have to be well trained. Now to name her???Lily or my sons choice the Eviscerator??

Evi for short - sounds cute, but gets the point across :)

Congrats on getting your son home, 2 days off AND a shop pup... Evi... sounds very effective to me. ;)

Eviscerator for sure, My sister and husband have an Akita, also good friends with 2 of them. They are extremely intimidating dogs just by their looks and size. Definitely, get her right into training, with a good trainer, one on one. These dogs are very hard to control unless they know from the begining who is boss. Small moving animals are in danger around an Akita no matter how gentle the Akita is..imagine a 120lb baby trying to play this a 20 pound baby.

Good luck and enjoy!

P.S. One of my doctors had a very gentle loving Akita, one day a dear ran through their property. The Akita went after it chase it several bocks into the garden wedding party of a local upscale restaurant caught the dear and killed it in front of 125 guest. Made the headlines and the town made him put it down.

Am just begining to find out how stubborn she can be- Poor thing is scared to death to go outside and will not unless carried. 40 lbs of puppy is Quite a lot for this old lady! Vet tomorrow morning and hopefully the training school will answer the phone tomorrow too. She is just beautiful can reach the top of the kitchen counter - which will stop immediately(!) This is some puppy!
The only food she has eaten with gusto so far is spaghettti--Good thing she came to an Italian household.
It has been such a treat to have MY baby (son ) home from the Navy. We drove to see my parents today about 250 miles round trip . Unfortunately Brian will leave again tomorrow night.

claw collars work great...

I always thought they were cruel...but after my 98lb choc lab chased a cat from out from under my van and I went flying onto the tar in my driveway (visit to the Dr for numerous scrapes on legs, knees, elbows, and palms of my hands) not to mention the very sore ribs or the broken storm door .....I bought one. He walks like a dream and it doesn't bother him one bit but reminds him .... He wears it all day at the shop and curls up in the most unbelieveable positions. It has blunt points...just a reminder for those dogs with very tough thick skin in the collar area. BTW if I take out one link...my 6 yr old granddaughter walks him perfectly at the heel. It is a training module not a punishment.

Lorrie...Your new pup

Lorrie-

Congrats on the new pup...spaghetti? lol :> Training a new doggy is always work but "Obedience school" will be a great asset! My brother is a police officer and I love his departments K9 dog (level 3 trained). Dogs are soooo smart they just need a little encouragement. I myself, am a former "Jack Russell" owner, but my neice has an Akita, very beautiful and smart breed. Sounds like you got the cream of the crop!

I bet it was wonderful having Brian there... We will all be thinking of you during and after your difficult farewell... I am sure he will get to come back and see you and your well behaved puppy real soon! Have a great week:)

as "dumb lab" (no such thing) nudges me to go out EXACTLY at 11 PM EST
(can set a clock by this dog).......You couldn't ask for any better ...a loving pup...best companion there is. Enjoy the love and devotion of any animal and make sure the same is returned.
