What is with all of this birth day..make it a week long celebration. You have much to celebrate. Hire a band, light those candles, and shout it from every roof top.."it's my Birth Day Week and look what I got as a gift"! Enjoy that little one.....so many years to guide him and teach him so he grows to be a man like his daddy! And of course mom to smooth the edges. Blessings to you both.

It's wonderful - and you're right, I have the best present I could ever ask for.
Thanks, everyone, for the good wishes. I'm just so thrilled about being a dad I forgot this morning that it was my b-day Good thing Janis remembered!
As for sleep, I'm doing pretty well! We are working with a system (for lack of a better word) called Parent Directed Feeding. Instead of feeding on demand, we have Wes eating at regular 3hr intervals, followed by some awake play time, then a nap until next feeding. This routine better develops his digestive system and typically results in better cognitive development. Over 95% of babies on this plan sleep 6hrs by age 6 weeks and 8hrs by 8 weeks.
For now, we know WHEN Wes will fuss, because he's already adapted to the schedule. He is only hungry every 3 hrs, and his sleep patterns are almost in sync.
