Where does the word "Easter" fit it on all of this?
Why are we happy for his death for our sins?
Where does the chocolate bunny fit in all of this?
Why do I hear parents saying to their kids, there won't be any Easter presents if you don't behave?

Some things don't make sense in this world but others do. Like he died for our sins. Is Easter a celebration of his life or resurection? Why is it called Easter?
Why not the resurection of Jesus? Too religious????

Is this another holiday that is too commercialize and loosed it's purpose.

Wow, maybe I am in the wrong business if I think that.

All I know that thousand of people celebrate "Easter" and don't even know why!

All I could do is wish you all God's Blessing on this day!
May you find time with in yourself to find out peace, love, courage, etc as to why Easter is all about! Share his love with family and friends.

Yikessssssssss!!!!!
I need ot get some chocolates for Easter for Debbie or I am in the Dog house!

Happy Easter to you also Luc. And my celebration of Easter is because I serve The Risen Savior, and I know that He is living whatever men may say (paraphrase of an old hymn).

Easter is named after Oester , an ancient Germanic goddess of spring. Spring was very important to our pagan ancestors. Food would be running very short by the time winter was over. Rabbits breeding and hens laying eggs were happy happy reasons to celebrate indeed. Celebrations were held around the time of the Vernal Equinox (March 20 -21)because that was the time when it starts appearing that daylight is finally overcoming the dark.

When Christianity gained popularity in Europe ,it was only natural this holiday should take on Christian Themes.Passover and the resurrection take place around the same time. The Light "Defeating" the Dark, The sun rising in the East. The Sun (of God) Risen on East(er). New life, new hope,a better life. The old and new beliefs mesh on many levels. Eggs and Bunnies are just leftovers,'cause, face it, they're fun!

So, whether you are a Christian and celebrate your Risen Savior or you're an old Heathen happy that winter is almost over, It's all good!

Happy Easter and Blessed Spring to all of you!
