Happy Thanksgiving my Canadian friends

Thank you Kristine... it's going to be a glorious October weekend. This is my favourite holiday.

MMMMMM turkey!!
Yep it's turkey for us too...but not for me this year, too busy...oh well.
I am greatful for too many things to list...
My health, my family, our peaceful nation, our guys in Afghanistan helping others, our freedom to live the way we want, our healthy son and his dreams, our ability to worship when and how we want, our democratic society, our collective wealth...
Thaks all, I'm greatful for you too!

Turkey with lots of dressing. For me, turkey is just the excuse to have dressing!

What a strange holiday this has been. In our area Thanksgiving has never been really big for the floral biz. Very culturally mixed, and Rosh Hoshanah is much better than T-Day. This year, the boss got a case of wicker cornucopia oasis holders and I thought, hmmm, I wonder how many of those we'll pack away for next year. Leading up to today, we didn't have one tablecenter order. None. Then *wham* today we sold those cornucopias one after the other -- all walk-in. I guess it was a nostalgia/novelty thing.

(When I was taking the college floristry course, many of my fellow students were Oriental, which means they had no cultural reference for cornucopia. We did one practical class with them, and these students kept calling them "the fish things". Now I can't look at a cornucopia without thinking of fish!)

It's all about the trimmings that are invited by the turkey. ;)

Cornucopias look like Alladin shoes to me.

And it's held during harvest season. ;)

After a twelve hour (so far) day, just home from the last set up for the holiday, and all I wanted to do was crash, and get a nap befor the tear downs tonight. I opened the door to be embraced by music...Taj Mahal on the stereo, the scent of home made soup on the stove, the fire was cracking , candles lit, and my husband was decorating the snowman Christmas cookies I had baked, but hadn't gotten around to decorating yet because of a crazy work week...
Today, more than ever, I am greatful to Andrew. Sometimes we get lucky when we choose our life partner, so this Thanksgiving, after 35 years, I am still giving thanks for my amazing husband.
Oh, and the weddings today were beautiful too. Got to love that!

Ah yes, Happy Thanksgiving..... now I remember why all those vehicles we passed from our Maritime Neighbours were headed home!!! (and I did tell hubby on our way downstate that it was Canadian Thanksgiving, doh!)

Rhonda... I used to be one of those travellers on Thanksgiving weekend. We'd visit friends (Canadian) in Connecticut and R.I. I loved those days. :)
