I am trying to get a webdesigner to re design my website and turn it into an ecommerce. I need about 12 pages with about 5 of them with online ordering.

I have designed it myself on paper (very roughly, colours, layout etc). I have tried local business but to be honest the ones that did answer the phone wanted £1500 to set up.

Is this a realistic figure and do i need to have a local person doing this? Do i need to meet with a webdesigner face to face or is this something i can do online?

My stepfather who is in business uses someone in china and he has a very good site and has said he can set this up and could prob get me a good deal due to the amount of work he puts their way. Shall i go with this or do i need to go local or is there anyone else you could recommend??

Thanks, sorry if all of these questions have already been asked...

Palms,

We have a very affordable (about £550) fully featured ecommerce solution designed for florists. It's also designed to rank well in the search engines. The price also includes a customized design, so we can have our designers work from your sketches.

We haven't worked with a UK shop, yet, so if you're willing to be a guinea pig, we can make you a deal on the setup price.

If you're interested, email me ([email protected]) or PM me.

We'd like to get into the UK market, so this could be a good fit for us both :)

Yes, it's a realistic figure for a one-off site, because in many ways you're re-creating the wheel.

No, you don't need someone local - just someone you can get a hold of, by phone, email, etc.

If you and Palms do get it together I'd be interested in running the story in the magazine. We do have a UK preferred supplier but that is no reasons not to extend the list and given I've seen your skills and professionalism here would make sense.

On my site I do a lot of the work myself but the chap who built the e com side lives and works from Spain. I have never seen him or even spoken to him on the phone. All contact has been via e mail with payment online into his bank account.
Have used him for about 4 years on a number of sites.
e mail and internet has made things a lot easier.
