Hi all

I have a wedding tomorrow and am doing the bride a heart shaped bouquet in a frame holder. I am using Vendela, Bouvardia, Freesia gyp and pittasporum small.

The only problem is, is that there is no cage around the foam. In a normal shower bouquet i would use wires and the cage to secure. There is also not a great depth to the foam so i am concerned about the roses falling out due to their weight..

So my question is, has anyone used this holder before and if so how did you secure?

At the moment I am thinking glue but just wondering if you lot can come up with a better solution???

Could you do a chain of flowers similiar to a halo and wrap that around the frame?
Palm you do take on the crazy ones don't you? I am having a hard time picturing what the frame looks ike in width...but crossing my fingers for you!

Thanks you guys, this one is a last minute change otherwise i would have looked into this further.

I do like the idea of chicken wire but not sure where i can get some at this time now but it certainly has given me food for thought.

I am putting an ivy structure around the edge in a heart shape with the bottom of the heart trailing with ivy also. I

I cant wait to do it but i am having one of those nervous moments i always say i dont have anymore :alcoholic

Pics will certainly follow along with the other 10 or so i have yet to put on the wedding thread. We have to keep that thread going at least until christmas :)

how about wrapping the oasis/frame with oasis tape? It will add a little more security to the foam so it won't split.... you could still wire your 'tail' and wrap it 'round the tape, like you would a cage.

good luck!

and re:saying no ... just sold a funeral rental to make a 'babbling brook' out of a fountain, plants, trees, rocks .... around the casket, at my funeral director's FH who is water-phobic ;)sure, we can do that! now off to figure out how......

Assuming your holder looks something like the accompanying illustration.....a semi-spherical ball of foam with a plastic conical/tubular handle.......then this is what I would do.....to not only gove you more stability........but also to hold your heart shape border.

I would make your heart border FIRST......using shaped wires, foliages, etc.

then I would insert cross peices of wooden picks or skewers from one side of the form to the other and attach the heart border to that.

You can then tape over the form lcrossing from one pick to the other over and under.

I've got to do one of these next month, first of all I was going to fully wire the thing, just for my own piece of mind..... but

Anyway, have now decided that I'm an idiot and I figure that I'm going to use the holder you are talking about and Glue each flower into place. I've had " practice" and it will work just fine.

The holders are new to here, so I figure it's either now or never to give them a whirl.!

Love to see a pic of yours when completed.

Trish yeah that is the one, thanks so much.

Ricky thanks for your advice but its not that holder, i use those types all the time but thank you for taking the time to look into it.

Karla, thanks for letting me know - it is reassuring that the glue will work as well.

I think i am going to tape it, excellent ideaa, i think it will just give me that little extra confidence in sending it out.

I will certainly post pics, i just hope it turns out ok - i actually had a dream about it but in my dream it was all positive so fingers crossed ;)

Ok its done. Got some pics which i will post in wedding thread over the weekend.

Feedback is that i found putting the heads in on slants made a more comfortable fit and i did use tape and also glue. I even gave it a shake before i sent it out (I always do this out of complete fear of flowers falling out down the isle).

I have to say i was really pleased with the results, it did look very weddingy and pretty, my pictures as usual dont tell the tale properly but i will share.

Thank you so much everyone for helping out :)
