Hi, I am pretty new on here and this being my first post.
Any suggestions would be appreciated .... I have a wedding at the end of June and the bride is having a chocolate brown and dusky pink theme. I never relaised how difficult it was to find brown flowers especially roses!!! Has anyone used or seen the Marrakech rose? I have not used nor seen it before but my Dutch supplier has said this is the closest thing to a brown rose. Anysuggestions please?

You may want to try terra cotta. It has that brown to pink tone to it. i find that using things that are very dark burgundy work well with the chocolate and pink theme. Like safari sunsets, burgundy dahlias, chocolate cosmos(good luck getting it though), burgundy kangaroo paw and brown hypericum. These all tend to blend into that brown to pink tones. There is another rose that is very pretty, can't remember the name. If I remember it I will post later.

Leonidas also would go well...kind of a coffee with cream color.

There is a french company NIRP International that grows a rose called Terra Nostra that is a real true chocolate. Amy Stewart blogged about it on her blog dirt. There is also a chocolate gerbera that I have seen that is true chocolate. I'll try to get the grower and variety name next time I see it in the market.

There are chocolate brown calla, chocolate brown anthrium as well.

Chocolate anthuriums are glorious. As are the cosmos. I also love the leonides. Yummmmmm.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Lori - I tried NIRP International about a month ago and they put me in touch with the suppliers of the Terra Nostra Rose called Jaroma flowers I have e-mailed them so many times and never received a reply so have given up on the Terra Nostra!

I showed my Bride the Leonidas rose and she thought it was too orange for her - I did explain that mixed with brown foliages and pinks the Leonidas does tend to look more brownish in colour.

As flowerkid said there is The Hot Chocolate Calla or the Choco brown anthurium.

Had a look for some other things and found Germini houdini rust maybe a bit more of an orange colour though.

Another idea that Ive used before but in different colours... Take a husky pink rose and paint the tips with a chocolate brown paint. I've painted many bouquets like that and looks amazing. Even if I do say so myself lol.

One of our wholesalers had brown sunflowers, a dark chocolate color, on his truck yesterday. I'll try to find more information about them today.

Welcome to Flower Chat! It's a good thing.

Ooo... Connie I had forgotten about the brown sunflowers. They are lovely!

We use the Verdi preserved roses for chocolate brown. They are fab and come in range of colours from sky blue to apple green. You can buy varying sizes from miniature upto large. You will need to wired the rose heads on to stems. We have used alot of these flowers before expecially for overseas weddings where the brides have taken the design with them.

I saw the Verdi roses last week in the wholesalers and was considering using them - I will see if they still have them in stock - I should have bought them when I saw them, they looked really beautiful and real.

Thinking about the sunflowers. If you can't get brown ones or even if you can. You can pull the petals off of some yellow ones and use the centers. Makes a very cool effect in some arrangements.

You can buy direct from verdi: e-mail [email protected]. They also do hydrangea. orchids, calas and foliages all preserved. You have to watch where your store them- not too cold or hot. We have designed bouquets for brides taking to USA, Cyprus and South Africa using these flowers and the brides still have them in near perfect condition.

Hey,

Just used some "Selina" gerbera. One of the nicest brown flowers I've seen. Real smooth color. Awesome for the right arrangement.
Also got some "Browny" gerbera.Brown with an orange hue.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I have pretty much finalised the designs and flowers now.

99 Sublime: Cannot thank you enough for the Verdi flower information.
